Click Here for Another List of Useful Topics?

Featured Replies

On logging in here, the top thread title displayed is Click Here For A List Of Useful Yeti Topics .  It does exactly 'what it says on the tin' and very useful it is too, but.....

The list was locked at fordfan's post of 29 October 2011.  Sadly, he is no longer with us; his last recorded post was in March 2017 and his Honorary status is a fitting memorial.  But I think he'd agree that a lot has happened over the last ten years.

The Yeti has been facelifted - and discontinued.  It recently seems to have more 'popular' appeal on the 'used' market than it did when still in production, though that could be in part a result of current economic conditions.  The original levels of trim - S, SE, SEL and Elegance - were joined by others such as Monte Carlo, Outdoor and Drive.  OEM options have come and gone, and aftermarket stuff too.  So have special personal choices - e.g. flappy paddles and 16" wheels - that were perhaps appropriate at particular times.  Some notable colours went (e.g. Tibetan Bronze, Petrol Blue) and others came (Forest, and several greys).

Briskoda has gathered a wealth of information about the Yeti in all its guises - its strengths and weaknesses in a wide range of environments and based on the experience of hundreds of individual drivers.  Most of this is outside the range of fordfan's topic, simply because that covered only the Yeti's first couple of years.  It can only be uncovered by the forum Search facility (which isn't easy to use and ultimately means asking a question in a form that will find it) or by tapping members' collective memory.  Although there's a small army of current owners here who have had one or more Yetis since those early days, the number is dwindling together with their available memories.  And this is at a time when there is an influx of new members, who are buying 'Used' from the fleet of remaining Yetis that are piling on the years and miles.

It might be helpful, while memory lasts, to put together another list of topics that have been discussed several times over the last ten years, with links suggested (not confined to the Yeti section).  Just a few possibles:

Roof racks and boxes
Cycle carriers
Internals such as dog cages
'Dancing windows'
Door looms
Replacing/updating lights
ditto Audio/satnav units

Any thoughts?

I seem to remember a very good "how to hardwire a dash cam" in particular photos showing the routing of the live (red in this case) wire

behind the fuse box and the reason this may be applicable to other skoda types.

*P.S.  If you search from Google into Briskoda you quite often get a better result for your query!

@Brijo If you'd like to continue fordfan's topic (well actually a Pt2 version) then the least I can do is add it as a pinned thread. 👍

It obviously needs someone of Freedom status to be the thread starter and be able to update the thread as necessary.

Good example, gumdrop; finding the right fuse was not straightforward, as I remember.  The Google search tip is a good one, but seems to apply widely.

Thanks for coming in, john999boy.  Seems it's a bit premature to start thinking about technicalities....

Lots of views, no real support, I'm not in a position to be able to co-ordinate it myself, so not such a good idea.

The way to do this is to prefix the search in google with "site:https://www.briskoda.net" (without the quotes)

EG: entering the following in a google search gets good hits

site:https://www.briskoda.net how to hardwire a dash cam yeti

https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=site%3Ahttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.briskoda.net+how+to+hardwire+a+dash+cam+yeti
