Dreaded water pump issue

Might use a borescope from work, but I'll wait and see if it drops more first. Hoping it doesnt!

2014 octavia vRS - leaking coolant quiet badly! 😞

Been told it's the water pump (drivers side of engine)  Not sure if that's the expensive part quoted in this thread or the cheaper part!

Going in to get fixed this week -

Price should be interesting...

Wish me luck!!

It's very unlikely to be the waterpump on its own. What they mean is the thermal management control unit and the waterpump assembly. Ina sell them together (oem supplier) vw sell them separately. Given amount of work to get in there you wouldn't normally replace one without the other. But the TMCU is the pricey bit as well as time.

So, as you would expect it's the expensive bit - comes with belts etc as a kit, i'm assuming that's the TMCU @TheClient...

My local garage has quoted £875 in total for Parts, coolant etc & 6hrs labour.

Seems pretty fair. It is a fair bit of work. That is the book time I expect.
