Problem with SOS call

Featured Replies

Hi. I’m new to the forum. I have recently bought a 21 octavia sel first edition.

every now and then a hear a couple of load pops and get a message on the dash saying call failed.

but on Tuesday it happened again but this time I had a warning saying visit workshop.

and the the main infotainment screen went hey wire with it saying loading content which it didn’t, so basically I had no screen.

I had the car off for about an hour and on restarting it had all gone back to normal.

however today the same thing has happened. Couple of pops and a warning about SOS call and to visit workshop.

any ideas or tips greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the wonderful world of the Mk4 and it's many issues!

I've not got a first edition but I've had this issue as well as just about everything else, it's definitely a visit to the dealer. I would guess they'll update any software that controls the SOS module first and tell you to see how that goes. Since yours is a FE, i would make sure they update the infotainment system too, I've just had mine done and it's a lot smoother and wireless android auto is now working.

Thanks.

I have it going to the dealership on Tuesday for an update, which apparently can take up to 5 hours so they want the car all day.

It's a built in characteristic and happens 4-5 times a day with mine. That and numerous other problems. Loading Settings sometimes resolves itself but you can also pull fuse 25 from behind the glovebox. As for tips, make sure when you leave home you have warm clothes and funds to find an alternative way to get home. If you've just bought it, reject it and preserve your consumer rights when the dealer fails to resolve the issues they will promise to but fail because Skoda have no solution. Not their fault but look after your interests.

Did the update fix it? And was it 5 hours?

Had mine done a couple of weeks ago, the dealer booked it in for two days in case the update took a while. Was all done - less than 4 hours between drop off and a call to say its done. So far, no SOS errors…
