Apologies if this is not the right place to post my question, and please move the topic if it isn't. 

I recently had a gearbox problem, and I need to change it, because it had a breakdown. 

I have been offered gearbox from 2.0 6 speed Superb, but mine is 1.6 engine. 

Even if it fits and looks the same I don't want to have shorter gears or problems with acceleration. 

If someone can share opinion or direct me to a place where I can find out that will be much appreciated.

I can not say this but perhaps look into part numbers, if both cars list teh same part number then surely it should fit. of course it may need coding to the car but perhaps that coding could be read from your current gearbox...wild guesses here sorry.

Hi yan, a possibility that the gearbox might match - but the gear ratios almost certainly will be 'taller' in the 2 litre version.
