Standard.

Officially

Yeah - 'Autocar Standard' more like!

Not as standard as mine ;)

i "heard" that the plod Octy's are chipped but otherwise standard

apparently they are one of the only cars the police use that dont have to be modified in the suspension/brakes department.

I did read an article that the cumbrian police tested them and it was the only car to ever come back with nothing but good marks on the test sheet.

I had heard that the Cumbrian cars now feature Skoda dealer fit sumpguards after a few mishaps.

sumpguard mishaps? Wow, not like I've ever heard of that happening to anyone else on here, flying off some little lump in the private estate road at 100 mph odd, and getting some airtime. BANG!- "oh, where's my oil? Oh, 300 yards down the private estate road behind me... DOH!" :D :p

And on my bonnet.

When chating to a manager of a Skoda (and Brabus) garage near me. He said that the police vRS's are chipped to around 236bhp.

That would indicate other mods in addition to chipping/remapping. Whose off the shelf chip betters what Jabba can extract from an otherwise unmodded engine?

Denis,

Mine produced 237Bhp on the rollers, before those luvvly Jabba chappies backed it off a little ;)

I got my final result on an ambient temp of 21c, i reckon it would be a bit better with the current temps :)

Another question. Does SkodaAuto UK provide a warranty for the chipped Octavias used by the police? Answers to Jon on a plain piece of paper, please....

what!!!

this sounds a bit worrying,as part of my scrutineering duties I have been known to have a gentle "cruise" through the stage on forest stage rallies..... does this mean I need a sumpguard or was that problem a one-off?

marc

Marc,

I had a slight problem with my sump, in essence I managed to punch a fist size hole it following a "robust" landing :( Fair enough, I was doing slightly in excess of the speed limit and was airbourne for a short distance (approx 18m) prior to the impact.

Can't think why it broke :D

Just trying to find out whether the sump guards available from Skoda are metal or plastic (can't tell from Etka what they are made of). I will be fitting one, as I gather it is quite common, especially on Golfs to crack them, especially as speed humps become more prevalent.

the dealer i was talking to said they dont warranty the cars they sell to the police that are later chipped etc.

i'd imagine the police have in house servicing for the cars anyway, or a preferred maintainance company...

Wonder which dealer that could be then

Around 236? Sounds a tad to specific for me.

Ready then Paul? ;)

West mids police have a few of garages where they do all the work on their own cars.

One is at Park lane nick , a second is not too far from Stourbridge on a trading estate , and I'm pretty sure there are others.
