Fabia temperature gauge problem

Featured Replies

Hi, hope one of you guys can help me,

My temperature guage on my fabia stays on zero for about 1 in 3 journeys(although it seems to be getting more frequent), I've never noticed it stop or start working during a journey, but turning the ignition off and on usually fixes it when it's off. Other guages are fine and car runs okay other than EPC light has come on twice in six months and stayed on for a day at a time, could there be a connection? It seems to be running fine. It's an '02 Fabia 1.4, 8V comfy.

Any ideas greatly appreciated. Cheers,

Mike.

Faulty sender unit? Need a tech or vag com to really diagnosis....

If it's the sensor that's gone wrong. it might mean that the engine itself doesn't know whether it's hot or cold (i.e. the amount of choke to invoke). They cost about

Hey

For how much they cost I would put a temp sensor in.

They are always going down.

But check with the dealer for the part number.

Dont pay £100.00 to have it fitted from a dealer as they are easy enough to do yourself.

This could be the problem.Temp sensors dont always show up on vagcom either.

£20.00 is from a dealer.

Try it first is my advice

Thanks for all the replies!

would a faulty sensor not mean the car would run poorly due to too much choke? The car is running perfectly, even when the engine is hot, but the guage is reading zero- I'm not a mechanic, but this confuses me. I trust answers from this site more than my local Skoda dealer- I'm worried they will just tell me it's the most expensive thing they can think of!

Cheers,

Mike.

Hi Mate

It is usually the first sign of the sensor going.

Sorry

It does not mean that you are going to have a problem with the engine.

But you can

Hope this helps

It is not expensive at all

£20.00 ish + VAT
