DCC how it works

Featured Replies

So how dcc realy work? For example,  does dcc automaticly adapt suspensions based on road surface in normal mode or any mode? Or just sets, lock suspension ti be softer or harder? I noticed the differenece when in sport mode, its stiffer, but between comfort and normal mode I dont fine any big difference…when drive over pothole in comfort mode, suspenson is lauder, more bang sound is heard, expecting to be the opposite. Dcc stands for dynamic chassies control, in some aricles also says its adaptive chassies control… Not sure if its the same thing?

sorry for my bad english :)

Yes, DCC just sets a predefined set of settings to the car. Not just dampers, also steering wheel, gas pedal, etc. It's not the same as adaptive chassis control which adapts different setting according to the driving surface on the fly (as you drive).

I have the DCC and I must say there is quite a big difference between the modes. Between comfort, normal and sport. Its even more noticeable between comfort and normal as between normal and sport.

In comfort mode I feel like the suspension is lose, when going thru bump….doesnt reduce bump effect, just that the car feels more wobbling. I think the meaning of  comfort  mode is to reduce micro vibrations from the road surface and feels more comfortable during long distance highway driving…

I agree. In Normal too, it is lose.

Sport sounds and feels tightened, like it is higher class car, and other modes are bad, except for highway.

I never had such a feeling when driving in comfort mode. It's super comfy also on bad single B roads.

“continuously evaluates and responds to various driving situations, adapting the damping and steering…”

So…. It is kind of an adaptive system but not the same as adaptive chassis control system?

also i didn’t noticed any kind of steering change along the road in normal or comfort mode…maybe cuse I didn’t “pushed” the car to it’s limit.

Hmmm I never noticed any changes during driving in a certain mode. Maybe they are so small an average driver can't notice them? But I really doubt they installed an adaptive DCC in an Octavia.

Mm no. As said, its an active system and it only affects dampers. Steering wheel, gas pedal etc is just a driving profile option.

DCC is active

DCC itself only changed damper settings. It can have a predefined stiffness with active dampening.

For example it stiffens certain dampers according to what you do. It should for example set dampers to stiff if a tyre loses grip etc. Main purpose of course just to set the desired stiffnes all around.

Changes what the active damping makes might not be noticeable until you drive one without it.

Thanks for explaining @timster I'm really surprised that the system is actually an active one in the Octavia.

@timsterU got me thinking….when I had testdrive car from dealer moths ago.. I remeber how jumpy the car was when fast driving in corners. my car with DCC and the same rim size as test car, driving in corners, not so jumpy at all. If u know what I mean :) I gues DCC doing its job
