Diesel VRS MK3 tuning -stage 2?

Featured Replies

Has anyone seen a stage 2 map option in the UK for diesel VRS, 2017-2020 variant? I've got a stage one already which has taken me up to ~225bhp, currently also planning to swap the current single exhaust for a double to actually use both exhaust caps instead of one being just for show. Any ideas on this or other recommendations?

Stage 2 will cost a lot more as usually a new turbo and fuel pump is required. There is an article on Darkside Developments about upgrades but you won't get much more power. The max they extracted was 286bhp and that cost a fair few thousand.

Rather than spend thousands, you may as well buy a TSI and stage 1 it. 300 BHP and decent torque, giving you butter smooth power , sufficient for safe overtaking and 40+ mog on motorway runs

How about spending the cash on handling upgrades instead? You carry more speed through corners so no need for more power. Is the grunt you get from a TDI vrs stage 1 not enough?

This is a good call. You would be better investing in better brakes or opting for a 340mm swap like on the pfl one like mine.

Day to day driving, you don't really need even a stage 1 tune done. The power from standard is decent enough, but I do agree that more is better. When I had my DTUK box on, the car was noticeably peppier.

I've seen the aforementioned Golf on DSD's video and it does certainly pack a punch, but the amount of work needed to get those figures............ I'd be spending that kind of money in other areas, such as suspension and brakes.
