SportLine 2.0 TSI DSG terrible fuel soncumption (20mpg)

Featured Replies

57mph is the sweet spot, on my 2.0 tsi dsg 220 I average 55mpg over a 80 mile trip.

Long journeys to work made me find the optimal for everything!

That's the drafting HGV on ACC speed. Iirc, 50mpg is possible with my 280.

I did it once on the motorway Bristol to London but hell is it boring and is the wrong car for this type of driving lol.

I did this once from Cumbria to Norwich in my V6 ZS.

Dull as and only got me 26MPG to boot 😂

Yeah, and it was around that speed Ap - so 57/60mph - on the MKI PD140 Elegance and the MKII CR170 Elegance when I’d get IRO 70mpg with both. That speed was fine at 05.00 and 16.30 when I used to do a 110 mile round trip from Home to Reading and back everyday. Wouldn’t want to do those speeds on a long leisure  trip though cos at 75-80 returning a genuine 35mpg is ok with me.

I get 33mpg combined and easily 40 at motorway speeds (65mph). I'm in NZ tho so it's never terribly cold apart from morning work commutes in Winter.

Given the way I drive, I'm very pleased with fuel economy of my 220.

In ur speak, that's 35 mpg (UK).

On the freeways, I avg 6.5L/100 (43.5 mpg)

Best I've done is 5.5L/100 (52 mpg)

I have a APR Stg 1 tune, 19s (with 245/40 tyres) and run all 4 at 38 psi.

I filled up this morning - 70L of 98 RON went in.

Boy did it hurt given the fuel prices now!!

The OP & others in the UK / Scotland will be running on E10 95 ron, that is unless they use E5 97 / 99 ron Minimum.

From October / November to April that was Winter Spec Petrol.

Then being in Scotland / areas of Scotland that could be a different formulation than in other parts of the UK let alone other World / Global areas.

Handy when people saying what MPG / or efficiency or not they get what actual petrol octane they actually run with.

(No retailers sell 98 ron (minimum) super unleaded in the UK anymore.)

I logged the fuel on my 2018 Superb 2.0t 220bhp dsg from new over 37k.. it did 31.2mpg over 3 years and the best it did was 38.1mpg over a tank.  I commuted 10 miles each way to work.. I would of driven it reasonably hard..

I’m using Costco’s standard 95-RON, which has cleaning additives and is significantly cheaper than most other petrol stations, and I’m averaging 35MPG. 40MPG is doable on a run, and 30MPG when my foot feels heavier, but just going with the flow in traffic results in 35MPG.

Question for you, re. your stage 1 tune - Have you seen a noticeable improvement in fuel economy since the tune, and what did the stage 1 tune take it to?

Also, hi all!

I'm new here, first post and it's fuel related 🙂 (Had Diesel cars for the last 12 years, so this has been a shock now) 😆

I've just bought the Sportline 220 Estate, and have to be honest, love it! Especially the frankly ridiculous amount of space you get 😄

yes, my fuel economy improved after getting the stage 1 tune.  it was tuned specifically to 98ron fuel, which is wat i use anyway.

previously i was averaging 8.4L/100 long term.  this dropped to 7.7L/100 after the tune.

its gone up to 8L/100 now as i went from 235/40R19 tyres to bigger 245/40R19 tyres, i.e. increased fuel consumption.

in theory - the tune took it up from 162kW / 350Nm to approx. 240kW / 510Nm.

the other day i took some live data readings, using OBDeleven, of the engine torque - it recorded 505Nm!!

max. engine power measured was  approx. 236 kW.

pretty much bang on with the claimed APR figures for a Stage 1 - so i'm pretty happy with that.

Doh, Post duplicated my one above. Sorry.
