I don't think many would want the early EV crap either, and with fewer than 100 units built, the C1 ev'ie was converted by the Electric Car Corporation, which was based in Bedford, so it could hardly be called an EV generation. In fairness, can it?

Agreed; it's a hoorah on the hidden door handles, but it will be some time before all of them are replaced.

Not as good looking as the R5 IMO but good price especially in 47 KWh battery......

Geely own Polestar and Volvo, part own Aston and also numerous other brands.

Good boot and Frunk size too. Spacious but slowish charging. 115 hp and bit slow to 60 ie 11 seconds. Could sell quite well.

Correct, but the bit of interest was the plug-in balcony solar that @lol-lol was extremely keen to see and get.

Sockets like that have been getting the destruction order for decades, and I have personally been involved in searching out stocks of these in wholesalers' and importers' warehouses and getting them destroyed. The YouTube channel is designed for the electrical trade only, so it really is not clickbait as we all know it; it is designed to draw the viewer's attention to the particular type of socket and alert them to the dangers they bring.

Once upon a time, it was simply a matter of saying that all sockets made in China were not to be used in the UK and electrical wholesalers shouldn't stock them. These days, that statement cannot be used, as the major players in the wiring accessory industry (MK, Ashley & Rock, Crabtree, BG and Scolmore etc), have shipped their production to China and the surrounding area.

And yet, these bargain-basement dangerous sockets and other electrical items are still slipping through their fingers by the thousands and ending up on sale to electrical contractors via electrical wholesalers all over the UK. I have worked for Crabtree Electrical, Ashley & Rock and Hager over the years. The other scam is good-quality electrical sockets, etc., allegedly purchased for export, being delivered direct to the docks FOB (Free On Board), and then these same products end up being sold, once again, in the UK via the distribution network, which I also had to track down. A secret coding system identified the affected products, and they were impounded.

There are new measures here in the UK and the EU to stop low value imports, by requiring full customs entries rather tgan Low Value simplifications, so there are less import entries of higher value and more of them can be paper anfmd physical examined plus more taxes collected. Should help reduce these poor quality shipments.

I'm not convinced; they were imported in multiple container loads at a time, so they weren't low-value imports. Most of them in my area were destined for a large warehouse in Essex and a couple in East London. They were going to huge wholesalers who had set themselves up as suppliers to smaller independent wholesalers who were not large enough, or had poor credit ratings. Meaning main large-name UK and European manufacturers would not supply them. Often these smaller wholesalers would operate from a shopfront and would sell to the general public,, who would not be allowed to use a proper wholesaler.

That looks very good value and would probably suit a lot of people...

So many angles to this summers heat waves and the effect on electricity prices and supply.

All power sources that need cooling water ie gas power stations, and any other fossil fuel ones, including nuclear where they are drawing river water for cooling, were severely handicapped during the heat waves even fully shutting down in some case of power plants requiring cooling water/ Not enough water and what there was too hot.

Only solar kept up full supply and was relied on more heavily because of the failure of gas, nuclear and other fossil fuels. This affected the whole European electrical grid and resulted in the much higher prices which the UK has to pay for the interconnector electricity to keep the lights on some hours of the day. Still some levies could be removed, 6% I have seen menttioned.

Massive new wind farms come on stream on the English and Scottish coast, onshore wind and solar, both home and company installs occuring at pace thankfully.

Us domestic consumers have to hope that the new AI centres dont take so much power that we don't see as much benefit as we hope that is home / balcony solar could be so important to keep home bills down as low as possible. Today is the day balcony / home solar becomes legal !!

Massive Windfarms off the Scottish Coast or on land are not generating electricity because there is not the grid capacity or storage facilities or facilities to use to produce hydrogen. & there is no plans that will be implemented in the next year or 3 that will be changing this situation. Over capacity and lack of infrastracture. So Real world not Fiction / UK government / GB Energy world. Pylons being blocked, Substations Blocked and Interconnectors being laid and Land Fall sites being blocked.

As to the Data Centres and the many seeking planning permission in Scotland because of the temperatures and the supply of H2o for coolling. This is not going well for those spinning the story of jobs etc. Maybe they should be built at the Nuclear or GAS / COAL fired power stations that are decommissioned or on ex Military of Defence sites and air fields. But the water is very much the issue.

Amazon, curry's, Wckes etc will be doing more business and their delivery arms.

The electicity companies will get some free electricity pumped back in to the Grid but as it would not be the particular house supplier so will yge government claim this excess power going back in to the Grid from these 100ks or millions of balcony plug in solar uk buyers ?

Unclear. Just weighing up which system to go with but might go for a solar battery now and wait for the balcony solar kits until spring. Battery is am looking at is portable and 5 kwh with 6 kw outout so could usefully charge an EV at a significant rate overnight. Can also put 6 kw of solar panels into it. Should pay for itself in 2 or 3 years abd is easily movable to my next property as are my panels.

I would not go to Aberdeen either.

Westminster government i think choose Aberdeen to fit in with transition from oil and gas to renewable hoping it would go down well.

Mind you Crown transfer terms can be quite nice i recall. Not sure they are today compared to when I got mine in the nineties.

Not sure where the staff would be moving from, London, Liverpool, Manchester or Newcastle area which tend to be tge big Civil Service centres, all for moving staff out of London to save London weighting costs.

There is still the drive for Small Modular Nuclear & that was a wee back pocket earner for some Tories when in power and now some Labour party elected or non elected members will do OK out of that, same as happened with Hydrogen and JCB or family members connected to JCB.

JCB major Tory donors and were go to place for Boris etc photo shoots.

JCB tax history in many areas make interesting reading.

Support for Rolls-Royce's small nuclear reactors much the same as far as supporters, Boris, IDS, Andrew Bowie etc.
