Cleaning in Around the Badges

Featured Replies

It's a slight niggle I've had since purchasing the car in March. When washing by hand (I don't take detailing very seriously as "ain't nobody got time for that") I find that I cannot get in to clean accumulating dirt around the "FABIA" badge on the rear. The only way I can do so is with the pressure washer. Does anyone know of any cleaning tools that could get into here while keeping the paintwork good.

Thanks in advance,

Ryan. :)

short answer: a soft detailing brush, longer answer to follow.

longer answer, soft detailing brush with...

most safe: pre wash with chemical or snow foam - pressure wash away - add something for lubrication - gently agitate, rinse if needed, move onto contact wash

not quite as safe:  apply snow foam as pre wash, agitate badges and gaps at this stage, pressure rinse, move onto contact wash

as an aside some sort of wax / sealant type product will reduce the amount of rubbish that sticks in the first please

Thanks @laff82!

I just need something to get in about the gaps because the dirt lies in there at times. I usually give it a rinse with the pressure washer, fire snow foam over it, rinse again. I use a 2-in-1 Halfords Wash and Wax just to get the job done if I'm doing it by hand as I don't have the time to properly detail it. I do find the power washer to be an amazing tool for getting grime out of the arches, should, in theory, help prevent rust as much as possible too.

Once the car has dried I'll go in about smaller parts such as trim and the wheels to clean them with their dedicated cleaners usually. :)

Labocosmetica energo is great around badges, as the dirt is usually scale from dried water
