Turning auto door lock off

Accelerometers known as 'crash sensors' in airbag ECU and sometimes doors, I believe.

Airbags won't necessarily be activated in all cases.

What if you are sat in traffic or at a junction, have a heart attack or a stroke and nobody can get into the car to help??

Just saying!! Maybe I'm overthinking this, and hoping I don't have a heart attack in the car🤔

Well, as someone who has autolocking deactivated, I certainly won't worry about those scenarios.

Fuel also cut off so when getting an accident damaged car you may need to cleat that and have the engine getting fuel again.

(Vehicles not starting after a collision.)

Modern VW Group & other manufacturers cars will brake / stop the car when shunted.

VW Multi Collision Braking.

Just shown up in OBDeleven apps so have turned it on to selectable and now it shows up on my settings screen

Now, wouldn't it be nice if it showed up in the settings by default, just like it did in my '14 plate Superb II.

Probably what is called progress  🙄

Yeah, seams stupid not to give you the option when it’s clearly built into the software 🤷‍♂️

AutoLock On/Off can be added to the car's menu -  it's now possible via 1-click App in Obd-eleven.

I would never turn it off, but since you were concerned about it...

Be careful to read if you are mentally sensitivity!

Gents, please! We were the ones with my family who arrived first to a motorway accident. The car was crashed, driver was unconscious. Doors did NOT unlock themselves as the front part of the car was almost destroyed. Inside the adult passenger and 3 kids in the back were screaming, car got fire, and on motorway we didn't find any stone to smash the windows. They all burned and died inside, alive. It was a terrible case, I wouldn't wish this feeling even to any of my enemies. So I invite you to consider your choice whether you trust in the automatic  door lock or not.

Its all about perception and being aware of your surroundings, a challenge for those who spend their life staring at their phones.

I would never want auto-locking and have disabled it on the cars that were enabled, they all have had a manual door locking button which I use maybe 2 or 3 times a year when I have to stop in an area that I percieve could present a risk, to date it has never been necessary, I dont consider myself to live and drive in an unusually safe area, I live at the epicentre of a very large and widespread gens de voyage community.

That is a horrific experience for you to endure - and words cannot describe how the occupants of that car must have felt. Thank you for being brave enough to share it and I hope you and your family are getting all the support you need to overcome the trauma. And likewise the relatives of those in the accident.

We too easily trust that the modern automatic features of our cars will work as described when we need them too and this very sad incident has certainly got me thinking! Should I disable the autolock or not. I like the feeling of security, especially as I often carry expensive equipment in the car - but what is that compared to the value of life...

Every car should have these in the front door pockets, both sides, along with the Hi-viz vests.

EU & UK should legislate, as with the safety features they bring in that are supposed to work but can be dangerous because the manufacturers never actually sorted them out before having them as a standard feature from the factory build.
