Dealer fit reversing camera

Featured Replies

Has anyone else had a reversing camera fitted by a dealer? Just had one fitted to my Kamiq and they have made a really good job of it. I would like to compare screens to see if I have the right software for mine.

You should have fixed lines on the reverse camera, that one is on the Scala and Kamiq. If the dealer installed it then it is the same. Put some screens on here of yours so people can give feedback.

Skoda KAMIQ NW4 - High Line Rear View Camera with Guidance Line + wiring harness

This is what you should see on your screen. I assume the dealer fitted a genuine Skoda camera ?. Assuming it's done the same way as it was in my previous Kodiaq, the wiring kit that came with it it should be connected directly into the rear of the head unit and it should have been coded to your car via a link to the VAG system in Germany.

The Kodiaq has a better camera and also other wiring to get those moving lines. Kamiq and Scala afaik don't have them yet.

Thank you for the replies. The reversing camera is a genuine Skoda kit. As you can see I have the green and red lines but not the yellow. I wonder if Olderman1, you have park assist in your Kamiq? You have more options to the right of the screen. Perhaps that is why you have the yellow predictor lines.

The picture I posted was a generic one I lifted from the internet, so maybe that car  did have park assist.. I do not have a reversing camera in my Kamiq.

I got a camera fitted to my previous Kodiaq and that one did show yellow lines and the car did NOT have Park Assist, but of course, it may vary from model to model as Skoda tend to do.

I could be wrong, but I seem to remember from when I was looking to have a camera fitted, that there were two versions available, one of which was called a Highline that showed more than the other version.

As far as I can ascertain, the Highline is available for the Kamiq, so it looks like your dealer has fitted the other version.

Have a chat with your dealer to see which one they fitted.

That matches my factory fit camera, I don't have park assist.

There are kamiq pictures arround but with the highline  which should explain the curving lines as it was retrofitted. Original Scala and Kamiq do not have that and in stead only have fixed green and red lines. Park assist should not have any effect unless those are last minute 2022 model changes to a highline model which i doubt honestly. So if you wanted too, the dealer could have installed the highline version as it is compatible. But they probably wont as it is not original for a scala or kamiq which Skoda did a louzy job in leaving it out for those cars honestly..

Can I ask how much the dealer asked to retro fit this?

As per above there are / were two versions you can/could buy - the basic lowline version and the highline system which had several features ( as depicted by the menu options on the above picture ). There was a significant difference between the two systems - the highline may have been more than double the price if my memory serves me right. It all depends on the headunit whether or not it can accept the highline version.

scala and kamiq can have the highline installed. Only hardware and wiring needed, but i do not think dealer will do it as it is not standard.

I cannot remember seeing different versions of the reversing camera, highline or lowline, when I was looking at the Kamiq on the Skoda UK site. My dealer fitted the one shown as a factory fitted option on the Kamiq SEL where the boot release is changed for one with the camera to the right. It works very well and is clear and bright in all light conditions. It would appear that the one I have now is the same as the factory fitted one, including the software.
