Excessive oil leak and no oil in the engine at all

Featured Replies

£250 seems reasonable for changing the sump (if they really changed it!), filter and oil. However, if the sump was really broken why they have not taken the photo that?  Could be as simple as a mistake but also could be them be devil!

That is the old sump or another second hand one cleaned up, not sure about the filter but it definitely would not have been impacted. It's possible the oil sensor has been replaced, its the most vulnerable part.

Should your car not be equipped with an undertray?

Looks like a new sump, and possibly filter, to me?

Do you think so! But he failed to show me the old sump and he was even mumbling. What i think is .it was only oil filter which was damaged..i saw it myself that it was bent. No oil i saw in the Oil sump.

Yes. It has. I took it off just to see oil filter and so. Can oil sensor make the oil drained! There was no oil left in the pan when i checked with dipstick. I have seen oil all over underneath of the car. There is circular shape something in the middle..it has got oil as well.

I think it can easily drain the whole oil if it is badly broken!

Agreed regarding oil sensor, the garage has done a very good job of cleaning up, especially trying to make old parts look like new 😆

The round thing looks to be the dogbone bush lower transmission mounting, someone will say that the oil will soften and swell it, as long as it has been cleaned it will be OK, they are all synthetic rubbers and highly resistant to petrochemicals.

Oil filter is far too high up to have been damaged by a fixed object like a speedbump, its above the sump to engine block mating face.

If it leaves a hole, or the seal was broken...

I did the video of underneath, though it wasn't good but still it can give you little bit of idea about the oil mess.

I don’t think it’s a new sump, but I’m only looking at a picture. Is the paint glossy and new or feels older? I don’t know how old the car is but it’s not an old sump either.

The oil filter looks new and has 10/21 on it, so that’s something.
