RallyDay- Castle Combe

Featured Replies

Rallyday @ Castle Combe on 22nd of July

I thought it might be a good opportunity to get a collection VRS's (Fabias & Octavia's) together. I think it would be great to get padock parking for Rallyday, so if anyone's interested please reply or PM me (including car model) and I'll see what can be arranged.

I've been to Rally day for the last 2 years and it's a great day out!

Quote from the RallyDay website....

Tickets & Paddock Parking for your rally car or rally related road.

Not sure if this poses a problem for non vRS owners?

In the past I've had my standard Ford Puma in the padock with a load of FRP's (Racing Puma's).

I'll see how many vRS/non vRS owners are interested and then pose the question.

doubt you could get paddock passes for vRS's as they aren't rally inspired or homolgation vehicles.

sorry to be picky but, octavia wrc? fabia wrc?

The fabia VRS exists because it is an homolgation vehicle, they hade to extend the front bumpers to make it big enough to pass the regs.

never heard of a FWD diesel rally car myself :)

neither vRS's are homologation vehicles. an escort cosworth is a homolgation vehicle as it had to be made in order for them to be able to use a 4WD turbo escort as a rally car.

now my latest edition is an actually rally homologation vehicle, mazda only produced it so they could rally it :)

The length of the Fabia vRS is a homologation criteria for the WRC car though. A WRC car must be the minimum of 4 meters long. The extra length of the front bumper qualifies this for regs. Much the same as the Pug 206 GT did.

You dont have to qualify the mechanicals, just the dimensions.

Ah the smell of warm urine on a cooling fire.

See FIA list;)

Didn't someone run a works sponsored Golf PD150 GT TDI around 2000 - 2002? in the F2 championship?

People no need to argue, I've sent an email to the organisers asking if the vRS models are eligible for paddock parking. As soon as I hear I'll let you know.

Can we get back to who would be interested?

Tickets are £10 for adults and £2 for kids.

I thought we could do a meet at the Morrisons on the way into Chippenham, a chance to say hi and get some group photos, before heading down to the circuit (in a sensible manner as the old bill will be out in force!).

Other models welcome at the meet point, but depending on the organisers they may need to park in the 'public' car park.

Here's the reply:

Would be eligible but might be at quarry corner as the paddock is getting chocka. Roughly how many cars would you like to display?

I'm thinking 5 (as the response rate isn't that high!). I have seen paddock parking for 1 in the past (poor Ka Sport owner!).

Here's a chance for a great day out, show off your car and promote the briskoda website!

This event isn't on CC website Rallyday has it's own website....www.rallyday.com

Last year was great especially when Mitsubish'si mad Italian driver smashed up the brand new Evo that was being launched at Castle Coombe! Oh how we laughed!

Colin and Alistar McRae put on a good show in their MkI (or is it MkII???) escorts!

They also had an Octavia WRC doing the timed road stage. (might have a piccy somewhere!)

It is a great day out and there's a whole host of ex rally stars that attend.

Last year the late Richard Burns was there (not driving) with all the cars he'd won championships with. That's not something you'll ever see again. It was rather a special and sad moment at the same time. :(

Rallying is the King of Motorsport.

I would love the chance to have like minded people come and oogle at my motor as I am a vain man. My mate regualry "shows" his 1.8 Vectra and gets a big kick out of it.

Count me in!

I'm interested as I'm off all that week.

I'll go back to the contact at Rallyday and ask for 5 paddock parking spaces. That means 1 more space is up for grabs!

Guys can you confirm the number of tickets you require, as I think it's cheaper to buy them in advance.

who are the 5?

i want to go but want to be on track and hopefully not in the skoda so not sure if it will be the best place for me to park?

Flatfourburble - 2 tickets please (also hoping to get some track time)
