Doors...

Featured Replies

A bit of an odd one but hopefully someone could help :)

I am planning of ordering a few internal doors (possibly 3).

Does anyone know that this will fit in the Kodiaq?

I did a few rough mesaurements and it doesn't look like it will fit.

You might need to specify if they are the old Imperial sizes 6’6”, or the newer (bigger) current size, and remember new downstairs doors are wider to accommodate wheelchairs etc

We once moved a single bed divan from Dorset to London in a mk1 Octavia estate (much bigger than an internal house door), but my wife had to drive as front seats had to be quite far forward, and back fairly upright.   And tailgate closed.  But this is a reminder that about 20cm of length depends on where front seat back is positioned

According to Skoda you can fit a 6’ Christmas tree in a Kodiaq, a 6’6” door might be a challenge :)

I transported 6 full width and height 60 minute solid core fire doors in my MK1 Octavia from somewhere oop North (forget where) to France together with all my other stuff, toolboxes, backpack, cooler bins etc, the weight was the only issue.

One door should cause no problems at all.

I also brought five 2m doors pre-hung in their frames from France to the UK in the Octavia 2 together with all the other stuff.

A while ago I carried 6 internal doors to the coup for someone else.

Standard modern light weight internal doors. 6'6" I think.

Sat flat on the floor no problem.

Recently collected a couple of 2500 x 500 boards from B&Q.  Managed to slide them upright (ish) between the front seats.

Just use a tape measure ahead of committing.

ps - if you want a laugh, just go watch the antics outside IKEA as folk emerge with more than they expected 😄

For any other DIYers - you can just fit 2.4 metre (nominal 8-foot) architrave or similar thin, narrowish items diagonally.

Must have been really tight getting 2500 boards in. (I thought 2400 was the standard length for most sheet material)

I regularly carried 3m lengths of steel stud partioning and timber laid across the seats and dashtop, a couple of rows of the 3m U channeel followed by several rows of the 2.5m long C stud where the windscreen rake prevented a 3m length.

I carry pipe insulation offcuts under the variofloor to protect the windscreen from impact when braking with loads like that, the biggest danger is when closing the tailgate against a long load, you risk breaking the front or rear screens or both.

My Galaxy and Alhambra were the best load carriers but lacked a variofloor for carrying the volume of tools & spares that I now carry.
