My New Kamiq arrived at Dealer minus Blind Spot Detection 😞

Featured Replies

Title says it all ordered mid August with a few options but it has arrived today at dealer without Blind Spot Detection. Should I reject and reorder and wait another 4 months which Dealer says I can or take it it without and get some money back ? Could those who have it advise it they wouldn't  be without it ? I feel like I am tempting fate as I think it should be an essential standard build safety feature anyway but that's another discussion. Advice please as I need to let Dealer know in the morning.

Is it not there because of the Chip Shortage so deleted from the build so that the build could be completed?

Is it that important to you?

I would take the money and consider myself lucky to have got a factory build order in 4 months.

?

What is the chance of a new order this week actually being delivered before May?

Why are you asking strangers the question that only you can decide?

If as you say you consider it essential then you wait, but you might just find out that it has been deleted because it is a bag 'o' s***e and won't make a return until they can get their act together if that ever happens.

Did you order blind spot detection

Yes I ordered it but I think the dealer mucked up the order as it was added on two days after the original order went in on 15 August after I decided I would like it. I have an order form that shows it was ordered. No point dwelling on why it's not on there now or kicking off its not going to change the situation. Just wanted some owner views on if they think it's is something they would really miss if they did not have it.

If it’s on the order form dealer gave you, then it’s the dealers problem, as they screwed up.

The best solution for you would be to make them reorder it, but allow you to use the error car in meantime, then swap it over when it arrives.

Of course that won’t be their preferred solution (it will cost them money), rather more than they would like to pay for their error.

An alternative might be reduce the price by cost of option and say another £700-1500 as compensation.  But it really depends on if you want the blind spot. (I have it on my car, and it is one thing I wouldn’t be without now, unlike some of the features which are rarely used)

Don’t be fobbed off with a relatively cheap offer from the dealer eg 2 free services, they know their mistake should be hitting them for value of about 6 services if you stand your ground.

I have it on mine. It's an SE L so came with it. I wouldn't have paid extra for it if it wasn't part of the spec. I'd try & get some money out of them and live without it.

This is an SEL it's not standard on the SEL in UK so assume you aren't in UK ?

My SE L was a demo and came with the blind spot detection, so I assumed it was standard. I've never had it before, so had it not been on my car I wouldn't have missed it. However, it is a useful addition, unlike others  (as SurreyJohn says).

I've done little driving since Covid reared its ugly head and I've only done 1500 miles in the Kamiq, but I think that if i were on the road more, especially on heavily trafficked roads, then I think I'd find the constant lighting of the bulbs in the door mirrors rather annoying and even more so in the dark.

If you're a younger person with your wits about you when driving I wouldn't worry about not having them. I'd just go for as much compensation you can get, as what you've never had you won't miss.

I've just checked the latest brochure on the skoda website and Blindspot detection isn't even on the the options list anymore so it's been deleted ! I don't think the dealer can be aware of this so obviously they can't reorder it and haven't realised.

What !! You mean to say you have a dealer who doesn't know everything about their product - I find that hard to believe 😉.

Take the car!  In my opinion nice to have but not worth paying extra for. And if you’ve never had it before you won’t miss it,

@DManPooleHas the Invoice / Price you have paid actually include £560 for the Blind Spot Detection that you have not got so that you are due that as a refund?

Well if you ordered a new Kamiq sel there is no SEL i don't know when it changed probably when the price went up you get this and more as standard. Plus you can order phoenix Orange £995

It was part of the standard UK Speck, Unless they have changed it.  I have the SE L and it is included in that and its a standard model.  Mine is just over a year old now though.  I't nice to have but, as previously stated, I would not have paid extra for it.

I am in the UK. Mine is a 2020 build that I bought when it was a year old. I did read the spec online and it seemed to include those lights on an SEL.

It seems it was standard on the SEL at some point then it became an option and in the last couple of months it's been removed and all mention of it erased from on line brochures and price lists. Assume due to the semi conductor shortage.

@DManPoole

So have you paid £560 for it or not?

If not they will not be refunding you will they?

They removed blind spot detection and torch in the boot plus 12v socket cooled glove box

in the last buid year my 2019 had it all but my  May 2021 does not

Yes Blind Spot Detection was standard on Model Year 19 and 20 but it was dropped from 21 onwards (as well as the boot torch & power socket).

Drivers side mirror auto dimming ( as well as rear view mirror) was also dropped I believe.

No my new SEL picked up just before Christmas still has the auto mirror dimming. Very strange blind spot went from standard to option to now being dropped as an option completely.

To my knowledge the auto interior dimming mirror was dropped off the SE, but kept on the SEL.

As I have no build date yet, I hope mine SE isn't a my23 as it will probably loose the electric windows by then!!!
