2006 Petrol 2'0 Octavia VRS not starting

Featured Replies

Hello All,

I require some help please. My car suddenly wouldn't start yesterday afternoon after using the car in the morning. I have scanned with a basic scanner and it shows no codes. I can't hear the fuel pump at all and am wondering if I have a relay issue? I think I have located the correct relay (4pin marked 191 906 383C). When switching the ignition on, should the contacts go together or only when cranking? Just with ignition on the contacts are apart. I'm also wondering which fuse if any controls this also? The hand book says inside the cabin fuse 27 but, my car dos not have a fuse that I can see...

Any help is very much appreciated.

Graham.

Update: I located the fuse for the fuel pump relay. It's blown. Tried another fuse in without the relay in and it blew straight away.

Any ideas and if there is anything else on the same circuit?

Regards,

Graham.

So which fuse is this (27?) and where is the relay?  Where I'm looking, cabin fuse 27 feeds the 'fuel pump control unit' which I think would be near the fuel pump, as opposed to a relay,  with lots of connections (10 pin connector)??

Yeah the fuse is 27 in the cabin and my owners manual says it's the fuel pump relay. The relay I thought/think it is/was is under the bonnet. Unless of course, that's not the actual relay...

Thanks for replying

The control unit (J538) is near to the pump unit under the back seat base accessed via the round access panel, if you have VCDS  you can test the unit or if you have a multi meter you can do a basic voltage test across the two larger contacts ( pins 1 & 6) on the connector  that is the supply from fuse 27 it is a live supply and on pin 3 is an ignition ON supply from fuse 1 (10amp)

Thanks for the info Nige.

I located the control unit. It had a very strong smell of a sort of burning and there is a lot of sticky gunge around it.

Thanks for you r help.

Graham.
