Need (Big) help with a TPI on cracked sealings

Featured Replies

Hi all

I will try to explain as good as i can :)

I have been struggeling ALOT with my dealer.

In 2016 my sealings in my trunk was cracked. They painted it.

In 2018 they painted it again becurse they didnt take out the window in the trunk.

After this i made a appointment with another dealer. They told me that the outher dealer didnt make the repair of my tailgate correct becurse the sealings needed to be removed and there is a TPI on that.

I then wrote to the first dealer that they have not made it correct. They refused and told me that they have made it as instructed by Skoda DK.

Now i can see that my sealings is cracked AGAIN. I have tryed to get the TPI so i can show my first dealer that they have NOT follewed the TPI.

Can somebody in here help me with the TPI? Im thinking taking this to a laywer im feeling so ****ed about this.

Really hope somebody can help :)

Regards Daniel and thanks

It isn't for you to have to play two dealers off against each other, or to try and dig out a Skoda TPI.

It is time to involve Skoda Denmark Customer Services, and ask them to resolve the issue for you, on your behalf.

Perhaps the second dealer, whilst probably not being allowed to share with you the actual TPI, might instead provide you with the TPI 'number', to which you could include during your conversation with Skoda Denmark?

Hello Daniel. What year is your vehicle?

I think "sealings" might not be the correct word possibly due to an auto translation, its difficult to see what the photograph is of and what is the correct orientation.

To me it looks like a photo of cracking paint on the side return flange of the tailgate where there is a horizontal swage line, is that correct? It also looks like the side of the panel may have been dented, perhaps the tailage has been closed when obstructed by an object?

If it is a paint crack and not a leaking seal or leaking panel joint seal 5 years after a repair on a vehicle at least 5 years old then I cant see a main dealer or lawyer taking the matter very seriously.

My apologies if I have misunderstood.

Agree with silver1011 and J.R.

I had a similar problem when my 2015 vRS was nine months old.  Skoda UK initially rejected the claim, so I sent them high resolution photo's and asked them to reconsider, which they did.

Stand your ground and challenge them all the way.  I had no idea there was a TPI.

That is terrible, from the silver letter in the photo was I right in where I think the location is?

Yours does not look to have sealant in that area, as a jig & tool designer in a previous life that looks like a badly designed component or press tool, the material being overdrawn and cracking, maybe a dry film lubricant problem.

Its looks to be stress corrosion and not a breakdown of sealant, no surprise that a repair would crack, I'm actually surprised at how little after 5 years.

Looking at the back of the car, mine was on the far left edge of the tailgate - yes, that's the S of Skoda you can see, above the swage line.  I was told the tailgate has a join here between two metal components.  I'd had mine from new and was a bit surprised to find it.  I was mildly apoplectic when they first rejected the claim as you might imagine .
