CONTROL SYSTEM FOR EXHAUST GASES warning light

Featured Replies

Have just aquired a  2005 Octavia. Topped up at Sainsburys for a trip to Gloucester from Taunton and had the Control System for Exhaust Gases light come on.  Checked the manual and this forum and it seems that quite often this light reflects (sic!) a minor and often transient error even just connected with choosing either 97RON or 99RO fuel.  Anyway there were no unusual noises from the engine and no change in performance so did the trip on the basis that it might even be a sensor error.  However, it seems prudent to purchase a diagnostic tool and they can range from £10 to close to £100, or more.  I have been recommended  a MaxiScan MS509 KW808 OBD2 EOBD which shows at £48.99 on eBay.  What does anyone else recommend please which might be of equivalent quality bearing in mind that quite often the same platform and software is used in different products and sometimes with widely differing prices.

Thanks in advance for any helpful comments or suggestions.
