Driving Mode Reverts To Normal at Every Restart

Featured Replies

Hi,

In my 2014 Octavia once I had set the driving mode to ECO it would remain in that mode unless I physically changed it, or I plugged in my trailer electrics. At which point it would change to normal.

However, in my new 71 plate Octavia each time I start the car the mode has reverted to normal. So, for instance I was going on a long motorway drive so switched to ECO, stopped for petrol just before joining motorway and it needed changing back to ECO upon restarting the engine. Seems ridiculous that it was not an issue in the 2014 car, but is in the 2021, especially when we are supposed to be being more green.

Has anyone found a way of keeping the mode locked please?

BTW the car is a 1.5TSI SEL

Think it has to revert to normal following all the emissions scandal stuff. Annoying but I haven't seen a way around it in here

Have you tried setting the parameters in "individual" mode to the "Eco" settings? Usually "individual" mode keeps active for the next time you turn the ignition on.

That doesn’t save either!

I use Individual mode and have to select it every time I start the engine.

Thanks Guys. I was rather hoping it was me doing something wrong, but it appears that this is another Skoda infotainment issue!

It's far more than that - after Dieselgate VAG changed the firmware on all their brands to disable/remove all the tweaks that could affect emissions levels, so this affects ALL VAG brands and is not an infotainment issue let alone a Skoda issue - it's a deliberate corporate decision in an attempt to avoid further fines.

That is true and it would be fine, but Škoda made changing the driving profile harder than it should have been. The dedicated button should be able to toggle between modes, not only open the window of where the modes are.

A similar comment has been made about much of the GUI design of the Octavia 4 infotainment system, that's the way they have designed it and even though many owners dislike it with a passion I strongly suspect that's how it will stay.

You get used to it. Only wish I have is that start/stop system would have a dedicated physical button. And overall system could be a bit more snappier. Other than that I don't have any major complaints.

It's the same as the driving mode isn't it? Start/stop is under the tyre pressure button, press the button then the screen.

I think physical set button is no longer for tyre pressure only. Its meant to be there to set few more features as traction control or start/stop on and off

As Jarekwi mentioned, you first need to press the Set key which brings up a screen with a few other settings beside Start/Stop.
