EGR cooler pipe guide

Featured Replies

I'm looking for information about fitting an EGR cooler delete pipe on my sons 1.6 TDI  ? any information or pictures of  where the pipe goes or  what pipework I can remove would be great , all the best ,  John

What is the engine code of your son's car ?

You will probably need an EGR emulator/ simulator or the ECU will detect the change & put the engine into " limp mode ".

1.6 tdi is either a CAYA/CAYB/CAYC code for a 75/90/105 model respectively.

Egr needs coding out if you're removing it completely, or a simulator as Pip has said.

If the egrs still working you can put a restrictor plate on the pipe leading to the intake manifold, it'll keep a lot of the egr gunk out of the intake system and it wont throw the car into limp mode.

I have bought an egr cooler delete pipe

Once its mapped out, technically I dont think you have to remove all of it.

Egr cooler is on the back of the engine and meant to be a massive pita to remove itself.

I mentioned before about restrictor plates, if you got the egr mapped out you could just put a blank plate in that spot and leave the stuff on the back of the engine where it is.20211226_100954.thumb.jpg.b0f7299bf8db65390907a3a09fa84e70.jpg

I do think darkside stock a delete pipe for the stuff on the back of the engine, but just blanking it here should suffice.

I need to drop the  the subframe to remove the cooler . I don't want to go back in there once its out  . I   want to get rid of as much old pipework as I can . The dpf & cat are going too . I was wondering if anybody had fitted the egr cooler delete pipe or had pictures of where it goes on the Pipework ? Thanks , John

The subframe needs to be dropped to get the dpf & cat off & I  don't want to go back in there . The egr cooler will probably burst at some point so that's why I want to remove it . I have looked for pictures to see  where the egr cooler delete pipe goes but I haven't found any so far . Thanks , John

Why are you removing all the emissions control equipment?

You'll just fail every MOT, belch stinking filth everywhere and gain absolutely nothing in return.

I don't understand.

Thanks for that Dieselmonte  I bought mine privately so I never had a link for it . Urban panzer sorry for the simple answer !!!

No need for apology, It just felt like an abrupt response when people had been helping you, hence my message, if you had said what you did above, then all would be rosy 🙂

Again I've still got an egr on mine so I dont have any experience with either of them. Darksides always got high quality stuff but I'm sure the ebay one I shared 110% fine for it. Pretty hard to mess up a piece of bent tubing and some plates.
