Gearbox Overheating SE TSI E-TEC 1.0L

Featured Replies

The car is 8 months old. 26922 miles on the clock. It has its 2nd oil service due in 1400 miles time.

Coming back to Bristol from London on Saturday night along the M4 doing a steady 60 the warning came on saying Gearbox Overheating. I pulled over quickly on the hard shoulder and there was a smell of smoke/ maybe clutch smell but it was quite a strong smell.

I have had no gearbox issues or engine issues since Saturday night. No warning lights. Everything sounds fine and the car runs fine.

I can’t see where any oil is coming out. The engine is all still clean. I do not appear to have lost any oil.

The engine temperature was a steady 89 degrees and I had no other indication that the gearbox was overheating. How will I know if this is not going to happen again? Is this another Skoda fault ?

SOFTWARE UPDATES
I appear to receive downloaded software updates successfully but the is a Manual download it’s trying to send me but it’s failed twice now. First time it said error - refer to garage. The second time it said No internet connection for Manual. Please connect to the internet.

FRONT ASSIST

The car observed something ahead of danger today but there wasn’t. The Front Assist came on and caused the car to brake. I do not like this feature. Can it be terminally switched off?

CLIMA

On two occasions the Clima feature does not work. It just hangs until you turn the car off and start again

You need the DSG checked out then because that was what came up with the Overheating warning.

I would nor be waiting until the next service.

You know you had the clutch smell, your box is a 7 speed twin dry clutch DSG.

The box has too oils in the box and the MCU neut maybe neither have leaked.

@ what miles was the first service done and why is it due again in 1,400 miles if on Variable / Flexible servicing at 18,000-20,000 miles / 24 months?

I have a petrol vrs, with manual gearbox, maybe not the same as yours but I had clutch high temperature warnings, followed by a clutch error.  Got it into the garage and the clutch was replaced, with Skoda initially refusing to cover it under the warranty which cost me £1800.  However another fault developed, with the auto hold/handbrake not releasing and it turned out to be an ABS control unit fault.  I was then told that this caused the clutch issue and got a refund.

I am getting the same manual installation failure too.
