Featured Replies

Hello,

I own a Skoda Octavia mk2( in India its called Skoda Laura Type-1)

It had the default STREAM audio( green display)

Now I have replaced it with the new SWING audio system

Earlier when I used to engage the reverse geat the diplay used to show the car symbol and I used to get the parking snsor signal bars and beeps.

Now, after installing the SWING audio, when I engage the reverse gear nothing happens.

I hear a BEEP when engaged, follow by a long beep(around 2-3 seconds), no car icon on the display. But I sometimes get a LONG park sensor BEEP when close to the object.

Please take a look at the atached video to undertand the problem. Help me find a solution to this, thank you all in advance.

Can somebody help me find a solution to this? Thanks in advance.

The parking system and the radio fitted are independent of each other.

The swing unit you have fitted is too new for the PDC on your generation of Octavia, so you won't get the display. You should get the beeps still however.

Get it scanned with a fault reader. Chances are one of the parking sensors is faulty.

The parking sensos are working fine. When I turn ignition on and put the reverse gear like always I hear a single beep and parking sensors starts beeping when object is near.

However, When I start the engine and then engage the reverse gear, I hear a electronic kind of beep(possibly of the swing audio) followed by the long beep as in the video above. After that everytime I engane the reverse gear(with engine on) i hear no beep(meaning the reverse signal is not beeing acknowledged by the PDC).

If I turn off the engine again and turn ignition on I hear the single beep and everything works fine....engine starts... error beep.

To sum it up, as long as the engine is not started the PDC works fine. When I start the engine(doesn't matter the swing audio is on or off) I get the beep as in the video and PDC does not work.

What can be the solution to this? Looks like there is some conflict in signals to the PDC. Can I disable the reverse operation/signal of the SWING radio?

The swing should have no bearing on the operation of your PDC. As you said it works with the swing on or off with the ignition on but engine off.

All the radio does it look for the PDC signals on the car's canbus network and display as a graphic.

A quick way to ensure 100% that your new radio hasn't caused this is to temporarily disconnect the swing and try again?

Ultimately, you need to scan the car with a diagnostic scanner (vcds or similar) and read the fault code that will be logged.

You are correct. I removed the connectors of Swing audio and still the same problem. The Audio player problem now ruled out.

So what can be the problem. All the parking sensors working fine. Even if any 1 is defective it would give a continous beep. But this gives a 3 second long beep.

The only real way to know what the car thinks is wrong with the parking system is to scan it with diagnostic equipment.

It could be a number of things.
