Fabia 5j suspension setup advice

Featured Replies

Hi guys/girls just a quick one looking at advice for the suspension set up on my car as since going stage three , setting off the line/low gearing I’m getting a bit of wheel spin/struggling to put the power down/ axel bouncing  which in turn is hitting the torque limiter and putting the dsg box into workshop mode/ flashing spanner , I know putting power down is a predominant problem with front wheel drive cars over 200bhp but would like to do all I can to stop this

current set up is standard struts on H&K 40 mm lowered springs but want to go coil overs

I have semi slick acelera sports tyres on the front  which do not handle the best in the wet to be honest compared to rainsports

I have a boost by gear add on for the greddy profec boost controller which I haven’t fitted yet which if I set the boosting to say 1.0 bar in first and second it should help me get off the line ,

willing to strengthen subframe up with additional mounts if required and poly bushing etc , currently have vibratechnics mounts on engine and gearbox which helps a lot but is not enough

The only cure is a LSD, even then you'll need to put your lead foot away and use more delicate throttle control.

Cheers for the reply mate , any recommendations? As some of them are very expensive and all claim to do different stuff

They all do the same thing, my preference is for the Quaife ATB differential, but others here have fitted the Wavetrac unit with similarly good results, it comes down to cost ultimately since they're all alike.

You won't believe the difference in traction.

Its an impossible task mate and isn't it only the wavetrac that's available for our 7 speed platform? Run a wider tyre and lsd is your only really option unless you can try get the torque mapped a bit lower in the lower gears.

Your the 3rd person Iknow who runs 300+ on these and cant put down the power at all on launch but again that's 1/4 mile....If building your car for that just plant extra weights on the front end :)

I think this unit may fit but it depends on the parking brake gear, there is another one for the later DSG box also used in the Mark 6 Golf:

All good options and stuff I will be thinking about think I know why I wasn’t getting the power down , think the 10 year old clutch pack has given up as today , heard a noise like when you have a car that has a manual clutch and you change gears without dropping the clutch , and have now lost gears 1,3,5,7 will either be fitting Kevlar plates or swapping the dq200 for the 6speed dq250 off of the gold mk5 1.4 tsi is there any real benifits for keeping the 7 speed over the 6 speed

Torque limits on the DQ250 would give it the advantage bud but as we spoke about .....Mating that dq250 to the driveshaft requires a lot of work.  The dq250 having the 350nm  torque limit(some dq250's were made with higher torque limit depending on the engine size) but the weight is 94kg(104 kg if 4x4) not including the clutch whilst the dq200 is only 70kg including the clutch.
