Fitting stage 2 parts in Southampton/Salisbury area

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I've booked my 2.0 TSI 230 VRS in for a stage 2 remap in May with R-tech, and am now gradually accumulating parts to fit before this appointment:

Scorpion DP with sports cat (awaiting delivery)

R-sport intercooler

Ramair intake

MTC turbo elbow

Dogbone insert

I had booked in at a local garage to have these parts fitted and also to change to 5w40 since R-tech recommend to do that (plus checking for any fault codes).

But - I just emailed them to ask if they will check for boost leaks after installing, but they state they don't have the facilities (e.g. smoke tester) to do it.

Should I be concerned, or am I being paranoid? R-tech will do a health check before mapping and I am concerned if there are any boost leaks, because R-tech will spot them and it could potentially be a wasted trip (3 hr one way for me).

If so - can anybody recommend somewhere reputable in the Salisbury/Southampton area where they might be able to fit these parts and do a bit more of a comprehensive check?

Thanks

Contact Abtech AVSS at Totton to see if they are willing to help.

Thank you. I have just phoned to ask for a cost estimate. Lady on the phone said she'd pass it through, and if they were willing they'd be back in touch in a few days

Rtech will check all the necessaries, I'm sure of it. The won't map it if there are any probs. But if you want to do it before hand and have the parts fitted, isn't Regal Autosport near you?

JKM at Portsmouth seem to know their onions, and we've had a few rolling road meets there.  They did the Revo Stage 1 on my vRS.

Thanks for the replies all. I'll check out some of the options listed here. Abtech said they couldn't help unfortunately.

In general, how likely is there to be a problem after fitting those parts, without any additional testing (apart from R-tech doing their checks)?

Do you think if I had a boost leak I would know about it pretty soon after driving off? I will have approx. 4 weeks between parts being fitted to the remap, so would have enough time to rectify any issues I think.

Try Janspeed in Salisbury, they may be able to do this sort of thing
