Has anyone wired the rear window defrosting function with the heat function of door mirrors?I have a skoda citigo 2017 5door 1.0 petrol Active edition and the door mirrors doesn't have any heat function. They are manually controlled with no heat.Is it possible to wire them to rear window defrosting function?

Are you fitting Heated Mirrors to the car to then have function when you switch on the heated screen?

That's right - you need OEM heated mirrors or after-market ones in place first and the wiring back into the door.

In any case, the heated rear screen is not linked to the heated mirrors. The former is a control on the dashboard and the latter is controlled by the position of the electric mirror control in the door. Maybe you need the electric mirrors to get heated mirrors? - I'm not certain. Maybe some models have heated mirrors but non-electric positioning and come on with HRW.   But if not, you may need not just the proper mirrors, but also the right switchgear in the door (a panel that carries mirror control and electric windows control), and the right wiring loom extensions, if not already in place. And possibly some coding change in the BCM - I'm not sure if that is needed.

I first thought that this edition ,active, maybe comes with manualy controlled mirrors and heat function which is activated with HRW.I tried with no results! No luck!So probably it will need new wiring. My thought was if it is less complicated to wire the heating function with the HRW.

I don't know if it is difficult nearly impossible to retrofit electric positioning mirrors with heat function that s why I am asking any help - diagrams ,wires ,connections.

I have some experience with retrofitting infotainment system in my car which works perfectly even with hands free function.

But retrofitting electric heated mirrors should be possible somehow.

It's probably possible, but if you have manual door mirrors, why would you even think you have the hardware for heated door mirrors, since you don't need the wiring looms or the electric mirror adjustment switch?

My thought was if it is possible to retrofit electric heated mirrors in my car with all hardware and software needed. And if anyone has already done it and can give me all the information I need.

I read some articles saying it is very difficult and I gave an alternative thought in order to avoid all this complexity if it is possible to have heated mirrors by wiring them to the RHW cables.

I would guess it can be done - VAG are not going to make dozens of variants of wiring looms, as that would be stupid from a production point of view.

A botch may be to just buy the mirror glass with heating elements, and figure out how to run wiring to say, a relay, to enable power when the HRW is on....

I would think changing the switch panel and maybe the mirror internals for kit sourced from a breaker's might give a better result -  figuring out the wiring and connectors may need thought. Try posting on the VW Up! owners forum - it's a way bigger site and a lot more technical.
