Mirror Dip Function

Featured Replies

I have unlocked passenger side mirror dip option with OBD11 . It appeared under mirror settings in infotainment. When I enabled it for the first time mirror went to it's furthest position.

Then I have tried to set it up according to manual and instructions in OBD11 app, but no success. After that I found out that there is another function that needs to be turned on with ODB11 and that is Mirror Memory.

Tried to set it up again, and it didn't work either.

I have manual sports seats, and I found out some post of MK3 owners that were telling that you need different door module if you have manual seats.

But I am not sure if that applies to MK4 because of what I wrote above, car recognized that feature and moved mirror by itself. And OBD11 wouldn't let you enable that option if you have wrong module.

Can someone tell me how do you setup mirror dip when you have electric seats ?

And has anyone done what I have and did it work ?

I have tried to set it up like this:

1)Ignition ON

2)Enabled mirror dip via car display

3)Set mirror switch to R(as right mirror)

4)Engage R (as revers)

5)Manually move mirror to the position that must be stored

6)Engage Park

7)Ignition OFF

OBDeleven absolutely will allow you make the change. Just as it did on the Mk3. From what you’ve written, looks to me like the Mk4 is the same.

Not really sure of that, I have tried to enable some other things and it didn't allow it.

The way I see it, if there's no memory function for the mirrors the "Mirror Dip" function will not work properly - see the requirements in the description of the App. That's why the mirror goes all the way down in your case - since it can't store the preferred position that you define. I don't quite remember, but I surely read somewhere on the forum that you need to have electric&memory seats in order to have Mirror Dip work properly.

I got the same info as SkOmk4. You need memory seats for this function to work properly since the desired position of the dipped mirror is stored in the same memory.

I don't understand why they then added this in ODB11 if all cars with memory seat come with this function and you can't enable it on others.

I found out post about MK3 mirror dip, apparently you need to have different mirror motor with few more wires.

Maybe it is the same case with MK4.

But some say they got it to work without changing any hardware, only coding.

I don't know about the mk3.

I just know this was mentioned a lot of times on German NX Facebook group. The mirror deep works only with memory seats since the position is saved in the same way as for the seats.

Same on the Mk3, you needed the 13 pin (IIRC) motor with feedback connections and the memory seats to provide the memory.
