New owner, some questions...

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I received my Skoda Superb Combi 1.5 TSI MY2019 a couple of days ago and after a few rides I have some questions...

But first of all thanks in advance for the help I already received (aka parking the superb in a 5m box!)

- it seems the blind spot monitor deactivates each time I switch off and on the car (or the rear gear?). How is that? This is the real issue of the car so-far

- when I press the "car" button in the Amundsen system it asks me everytime to confirm tyres pressure...is that normal?

- the virtual cockpit maps got stuck once.. I took a wrong way (according to the navigation) and the maps on the screen of the VC froze. Everything was ok on the system screen (Amundsen), all the indicators in the VC worked correctly ,etc. Just the map on the VC was frozen...Problem solved by switching off the car (no, switching off the Amundsen wasn't sufficient)

- talking about the Amundsen. I've seen skoda releases maps updates. Good. Can I change the maps (I mean, change the countries)? I've seen the system is CID-locked which is a problem if the SD card fails. Any issues so far?

- Is the TMC free or is there a fee to activate it? I'm located in France, TMC symbol was barred when I checked it (but TMC exists in France)

That's all for just a couple of days ;)

The tyre pressure screen is just the landing screen and only needs acknowledgment after you've altered the pressures.

Can you elaborate on the blind spot monitor?

Follow the links in my signature for the latest map updates.

TMC is free but you may have to select a radio station to get it from. It was a while ago when I last looked and it's not something I use now either.

ok for the pressure, so it's feature ;)

for the BSM, I activate it, I drive, I park the car, I switch the car off. I start the car again, the BSM is off..I read that is related to the owner's habits so I should memorize the (electric) seat position and activat eit a few times. Don't know if it's true

for the TMC, thx

I come back on this topic since I cannot figure out how to solve the BSM issue.

Every time I use the reverse gear, the BSM + rear trafic alert deactivates. I don't have a trailer, the system works ok once activated.

Any hint?

Hi @plutus,

This sounds like it isn’t configured correctly. If you got it from a car dealer, you really need to go back to them about it ASAP. If you bought privately, probably the only way you’ll resolve an incorrect configuration is to get the configuration scanned using something like VCDS and then compare to a working configuration. A local VAG specialist should be able to investigate, or find a kind person with a decent scan tool near you.

Also, as the car was pre-owned, are you sure it didn’t have a towbar previously fitted that someone has removed but not put the configuration back to original? Check under the rear of the car to see if a cutout has been made in the plastic valance where the towbar swan neck would come out.

Had my first long trip today, 650km (140 national road, motorway for the rest).

There's definitely a problem with blind spot monitor activation, I'll have it checked.

Quite impressed with fuel consumption, 6.4l/100km (acc set at 135kmh on motorway - 1.5 tsi dsg), a bit less impressed with cabin noise though it's s essentially tire noise (Continental winter tires)

Works fine once activated but everytime I use the reverse gear it displays the system is not available. After a break the system didn't active, had to restart the car

It states blind spot or manoeuvre assist faults? Because they are two different systems

I had a similar issue with my blind spot monitoring: would be fine until reverse was selected at which point it would deactivate with a warning on the dash. For me, it followed a rear wing repair caused by a neighbour reversing into mine but I don’t know for sure if the bumper etc was removed.

I had booked mine it to get it checked but it “fixed” itself and hasn’t gone wrong since (touch wood). I’m aware that’s not overly helpful, but it may be a bug which will fix itself. Hope it does!
