  1. Hoping someone can help me with a niche question. I have a set of mudflaps which I took off my old Superb and which I want to put onto my new one. I managed to keep all of the torq screws and captive nuts but I couldn’t save the plastic “push” clips. Does anyone know if or where I can buy some or what I could use as an alternative? Thank you in advance.
  2. I’ve recently changed my Superb and my current car hasn’t yet triggered the stop-start function. I’m quite surprised about this as my outgoing car (same model) tended to stop at junctions most of the time, no matter the weather. Could it be that the previous owner disabled it using an OBD reader or does suggest the car’s battery charge is low? It says that it’s using a lot of electrical power when I go through the settings though I don’t know why it would say that - I’m not using it differently to before.
  3. Miraculously, the issue seems to have resolved itself, though I have no idea why. I thought I’d check to see if any album artwork came up and it did, as did radio station logos. No map though. Lo and behold, the next time I turned the car on, once the navigation had loaded the maps on the head unit, there were the maps in the virtual dash. Just a bug I guess.
  4. JR RS - it’s the factory maps I’m trying to show, not those from my phone. Aperture S - I’ve not tried. I’ll have a look this morning on my way to work.
  5. I’ve recently bought a 2020 Sportline Plus which comes with the virtual dash. I love the different layouts but haven’t been able to get the map to show. I thought it might be because I’ve been using Apple CarPlay but this evening went out and tried without my phone. Still no map. I’ve tried rebooting the Columbus unit and when it restarts, the map section of the dash shows ‘starting navigation’ then it changes to ‘starting map view’ and then nothing. When I try the right thumb wheel, you can zoom in and out but there is no map. Any ideas?
  6. I'm looking at trading in my curent Superb Sportline Plus hatch against a slightly newer model and, though I need to have a look around it, it seems to be in decent condition and the deal is good. It has a lot of items which I'd like: Canton sound, digital dash etc. but I've just noticed that it doesn't have a rear windscreen wiper. My current car does have one and I don't know why you'd buy one without! I know the salesperson will say that the rain will be blown off by the wind at speed but I don't know how that'll work when I'm trying to park or drive at slower speed. Has anyone else got a Superb hatch with no rear windscreen wiper? If so, what's it like to live with?
  7. I had someone reverse into my car and it left a sizeable dent in the wheel arch just in front on the wheel. I went to a reputable local body shop and it cost me £600 to get the dent pulled and the wing/door resprayed. Because yours has damage behind the wheel as well, I’d suspect it might cost over £800 plus wheel refurb though that depends on quality of work. You’d not know that mine had been hit at all now. Worth paying for a decent repair IMO, though if you go through insurance, you’ll be forced to use an approved repairer (who aren’t always great but tend to be cheap).
  8. Cannot think why mine is failing at such low mileage. I don’t drive excessively quickly nor require the 4wd to be operated often to my knowledge. 35000 miles seems very low.
  9. To be honest, I have no idea in what condition it is in. I might try and take the wheel off and see if I can take a snap but I’ve not found this garage to be rip-off merchants in the past. However, I’ve not heard any noises (except for a slight transmission whine while off throttle at about 30mph). I’m not going to rush into replacing it as it’s a decent chunk of cash.
  10. My Superb had it's 4th service yesterday and the independent garage identified that the rear propshaft coupling was failing. They've quoted £420 all in to get it replaced (quote suggests Febi Bilstein part used). Firstly, should this part not last more than 35000 miles and secondly, what could have caused it to fail so soon? The car is standard and I don't drive it like I stole it very often. Any thoughts?
  11. It was done last year. I’d assumed it wasn’t that as the noise happens when the drivetrain isn’t under load but may be wrong.
  12. I've recently noticed that the DSG transmission in my Superb has started to make a small but noticable whine when on a partial or closed throttle. It only lasts a second or two and is intermittent but is it a common issue? The car has just passed 35k miles and is due to have the DSG serviced later in the year.
  13. My pre-facelift doesn’t have an indication on the dash but the actual light switch by your right knee should illuminate when the headlights switch on.
  14. I had a similar issue with my blind spot monitoring: would be fine until reverse was selected at which point it would deactivate with a warning on the dash. For me, it followed a rear wing repair caused by a neighbour reversing into mine but I don’t know for sure if the bumper etc was removed. I had booked mine it to get it checked but it “fixed” itself and hasn’t gone wrong since (touch wood). I’m aware that’s not overly helpful, but it may be a bug which will fix itself. Hope it does!
  15. I’ve just fitted Goodyear Asymmetric 5s to mine. They’re great compared to the Bridgestones which were fitter previously. They ride more smoothly, are quieter and have more steering feel too. I had Michelin PS4 on my previous Octavia VRS and I don’t think most people would notice the difference. Both excellent options.
  16. Mines a 272 but the figures should be more or less the same. Over 2 years, mine has done 32mpg on average over 18000 miles. That’s a mixture of all road types. On a run, close to 40 is possible and in town, it’ll be mid 20s. Mine isn’t remapped. Yet.
  17. I have a similarly annoying buzz which I believe comes from the fuel lines running underneath the sill under the drivers door and then resonates up the b pillar. There is some sort of dealer fix but I can’t tell you it was.
  18. My Superb flashed up a warning for low coolant this morning on my commute. I have let the engine cool and the level is below minimum on the tank. I have 2 questions - firstly, how far should I drive with low coolant (temperatures were fine this morning) and secondly, should I top up with water in the short term until I can get coolant (there are no motor factors for miles from here!)? My drive home is 20 miles, mostly motorway. Thanks!
  19. I had a rattle in my passenger door which the local dealer sorted. It was, if I recall correctly, a drain tube inside the door which had come loose. They reattached it with some sealant and fixed it.
  20. This may be a little late but I though I’d add my 2p! I have used Sonax 04-06 on both my previous Race Blue Octavia VRS and my current Meteor Grey Superb Sportline and it’s been really effective on both. Admittedly, neither was badly swirled, but it corrected and finished really well. I used it on a green Hex Logic pad. I also use Can Coat and it will last for at least 6 months if maintained well. Gyeon have just released a ceramic QD which will help to maintain it over time. Good luck with your new car. Don’t forget to post some images to show how you get on!
  21. Like the other two posters, I used the standard Skoda items, also purchased through Superskoda (Kopacek) which fit perfectly. I seem to remember they state that they don’t fit but they do. I removed the front wheels to attach mine as it was the only way I could drill the hole for one of the screws.
  22. I’ve tried the towing hitch and it seems to be stowed properly so I don’t think it’s that. I am now not sure if it is putting it in reverse which causes the issue as it has turned itself off twice today when I’ve been driving forward. Then it remained on for my 30 minute drive home with no issue and remained on when I backed onto the driveway. I’m at a bit of a loss. My car did have some repair work done in front of the rear wheel arch a few weeks back. I don’t know if they removed the rear bumper (not sure why they would ) but could this cause issues?
  23. I don’t have a trailer but my car did come with the tow hitch. I’ll investigate and see if there is a setting which I’ve inadvertently changed.
  24. This week, I noticed that I hadn’t noticed the blind spot assist flashing in for a while. So, I delved into the settings menu through the steering wheel and turned it on, along with the rear traffic warning system. The blind spot monitoring lights in the mirrors lit up and worked perfectly for the remainder of my journey. When I arrived at work ans put the car into reverse, a warning message flashed on the dash saying they were unavailable and when I went back into the settings the boxes were unticked. This is happening every time I put the car in reverse meaning I have to turn both on for every journey. It’s nothing to do with the personalisation feature as I only use one key and it always recognises it when I get in the car. Has anyone experienced this before and is there anything I can do to resolve it?
  25. Afraid I cannot help as I have no working knowledge of filters but am interested in tang information people have too!
