Drivers window. Up = Down . Down=Up

Featured Replies

Hi

i have a 2008 Fabia 2 1.4 TDi estate

ever since I got it 3 years ago the drivers window switch has operated in the wrong direction. Up is down & down is up!

someone said it might be a LHD switch but that doesn’t make sense.

does anyone have any ideas?

cheers

gareth

Yes, you simply need to reset the windows, when this happened to mine I activated the full open function, then full closure using the key in the drivers door lock, once you've done that the sense should be restored.

This makes sense. The door lock had been messed about with when I got the car. I fitted a new one.

what do I do? Just hold the key all the way over in the drivers door until all the windows drop, then go the other way?

cheers

Aye, exactly that.

Someone may have messed with the window motor module too. If the metal casing round the motor part is mis-fitted by 180 degrees it swaps rotation.

Not sure if you can get a view of the motor without full door card removal, but if you can, see if the VAG part number label is visible on that metal can around the motor. If it's facing the door and not visible, it's probably been accidentally switcherood.
