Battery change and Service Indicator

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a 52 plate Octavia Vrs that is being serviced on a variable service interval. The car did very few miles over the winter and this caused the battery to fail. I replaced the battery myself and now I am getting a Service indicator - despite only having covered 6k miles since the last service.

My question is - am I getting the Service indicator due to the battery being disconnected or does it really need a service again this soon? Service record says next service must be before May '07 or 45k miles (current mileage 32k)

Thanks,

Dave

Disconnecting the battery does not loose the service memory - I've done it many times an dnot had a service indicator.

Looks like its come up after a year. Either it has been re-coded for fixed servicing (with diagnostic equipment) or on the last service the indicator wasn't properly re-set. If it was re-set using the dash buttons it may have set it to 10000 miles or 1 year, rather than zeroing channel 2 of the dash panel insert with diagnostic equipment.
