MySkoda app locking status usually wrong - trying to see how many affected?

Featured Replies

When I open the MySkoda app up, it ALWAYS shows the wrong locking status (unlocked), and often a door showing as open too.

The only way I can get it to show correctly, is by manually pressing the refresh arrow. Fairly useless, I expect it to be corrected

during the app startup process, but that doesn’t happen.

I want to escalate this with Skoda but am trying to understand how many other people this is affecting so I can explain it’s not just me. I have a brand new sportline.

Please reply if you have the same problem, with the Kodiaq model year, and whether you’re using the app on an iPhone or android.

cheers

Sorry, its always worked fine for me

The first day got mine it was similar to what your describing and showing unlocked when it was clearly locked.

After setting up me as primary user and the s pin as required info shown is now correct.

L&K MY2020.

It has been very reliable ever since Skoda introduced the new app some time ago. However, it has been a little more flaky over the past week. Seems to be OK again now though.

MY21 iPhone. Rarely use the app but when I have I've noticed that the status is sometimes incorrect, Unlocked when the car is locked.

Just checked and status is Unlocked, but car is locked. Manual refresh does not change the status. 'Locked' the car again with the fob, still showing as Unlocked.

I am the primary user, but have S-Pin disabled.

Good luck with Skoda,

I have spin enabled, am the primary user and have biometric set too.

It’s always wrong when I open the app. Happens on my driveway, happens at the supermarket etc. it always seems to need me to press the refresh button and wait 10-20 seconds.

it’s like either the app isn’t pulling down the data (background refresh on iPhone is enabled) or something is wrong during the information update when the app opens.

Maybe the mobile reception for the e-sim is weak. But that doesn’t explain why it works when I press refresh…

I’ve tried reloading the app, doesn’t help.

I now understand what you call manual refresh, I was just refreshing the Home page. When I try refresh in the Doors and Lights screen it times out, so perhaps that is the problem. Loading my profile after starting the car at home can take quite a while which I put down to poor esim reception, which is not surprising, we have poor mobile coverage where we live.

When I used the app, I don’t anymore, I had that happen quite often.

A refresh usually helped make the app show the correct locked status of the car.

So just tried it again, and it wouldn't refresh the current state. I use Android (One Plus 6T), so I went into the app, checked settings/permissions, and saw that the app had NO permissions allowed. This is because on Android there is a setting that removes all permissions if the app is not used for a period of time. I have now switched this off, and have enabled all the permissions. Everything is now working perfectly, well almost.

I notice that if I send a remote lock/unlock to the care, it does do what I ask, but does not refresh the app to the current state. I therefore have to refresh manually.

Apart from that, all is now good.

Skoda still seem unable to get the system to operate reliably and consistently.

The Kodiaq is 5 years old now, Skoda Connect was flaky at launch, it doesn't appear much better now either...

It’s very frustrating. I just opened it up. It says ‘updated a few seconds ago’ and the drivers door is open. It absolutely is not! If I press manual refresh (curved arrow) then it updates correctly.

Whatever the initial update process is when the app opens / it doesn’t work on my phone / car.

My car and the App work together in very much the same way as Doombar's.  I have also just done a check after having unlocked the car. If you are aware of the problem it is easy enough to press the update button and be patient whilst the App communicates with your car.  I have the App on my Android phone and have all permissions for the app enabled so it must be something Skoda need to correct within the Apps software.  I would like to think that there are Skoda management or customer service people who monitor this forum and are aware of the problems we experience.  However, I guess that the only real way of making them aware is to email with our problems.  I have done this on a number of occasions and when I stated that I most likely wouldn't continue to use the App when my first year subscription ended one of the Customer Service Managers kindly offered my second year free of charge.   So fingers crossed the Apps tech guys will be continuing their work to get it right.

I have the same issue as Doombar, where the car is shown as Unlocked in the app when it is fully locked. This started about a week from new. Is the car reporting its status incorrectly, or is the app failing to refresh? I'm worried if a thief steals contents from the car, insurance might refuse to pay on the grounds that the car reported it was unlocked at the time.

Doombar mentioned the refresh button in the app, which sounds useful, so I went looking for that. In mine (on Android 10) there is no refresh icon on the app's start-up screen where the incorrect lock status is shown. That's where a refresh function ought to be. However, to find a refresh button, I have to click on the "doors and lights" section, which gets onto another screen where the status of the doors and lights is again shown, but with additional icons for lock and unlock and refresh. On mine, lock and unlock don't work - I get an error saying I need to contact my service partner and show my driving license, even though my service partner sold me the car and already has my ID info. Hitting refresh did update the lock status to Locked - so happy days, sort of. But that essential function should not be buried at a second level.

My impression of the MySKODA app is that it has great potential but it is currently a poorly designed shower of brown stuff.

Skoda App ——>>>>>> into file B.1.N.

There is no refresh button anymore. Swipe the screen down and it updates to the latest data. Should do it by default, but it usualy doesn`t.

503 here also, but no refresh button on home page. Only on Car condition page.

On iOS you need to go into above screen and you get a screen showing what door, window, boot, bonnet open, and the remote lock/ unlock buttons.
That page has the refresh button.

In my experience, refreshing that page is the only way to get the status to update. If you try refreshing the dashboard by pulling down and releasing, it doesn't do anything - despite the refresh symbol appearing at the top for a few seconds.

And that's when the app works in the first place. It seems to me to be getting less stable with every update.

Same here, and I just went to https://www.skoda-connect.com/ which did the same thing, showed open until I refreshed the status. So the problem lies with the back-end, not specifically the App.

I have a case open with Skoda for several weeks about this now. If I make progress I will post.

Apparently the need to manually refresh the ‘Doors and lights’ card to get an accurate car status will be fixed later on this year. Good news.

Thanks for the update. They really took several months to give that response?
