Lack of acceleration under 1k, sometimes stalls

It only does this when you get in, in the morning, whether cold or hot, when left overnight. And it only does this intermittantly.

You start the car, it idles around 1k, press the accelerator, and instead of the rpms going up, they'll go down, to around 500, sometimes it might stall, or alternatively it will do this around 4 times and then after a while it'll start accelerating over 1k.

Can do it at junctions when you're trying to pull out, and you'll go so slow that you're half way out of the junction and can't go back, but you're totally in the way of someone else coming down the road...

sounds very much like the same thing as this:

I've had it in the garage, and computer errors are: Oxy sensor 2 bank 1, PO138 Bank 1 Sensor 2 Oxy, ECT Sensor fault, and EVAP system. But have not had these replaced / fixed yet...

Would replacing / cleaning? the oxygen sensors fix this?

Thanks for the help

Not sure but I have the same problems, Dealer told me they couldnt find anything wrong with it. It's a mixture of a weak engine and a slow throttle that causes problems when pulling away and stuff though. I feel exactly the same way at junctions and roundabouts, It''s all for the sake of Emissions that the throttle responds so slowly:thumbdwn: and theres absolutley nothing that can be done about it

Thanks for the quick response... :(

I tend to have to rev to around 2k and then release the clutch to be on the safe side.

Although when it is working it idles at 1k, and goes up from there... but this problem is when it goes down to 500rpm or less and surely this can't be right?

I had the same problem with a BMW 320 (52 reg) (before i part ex'd it for my octy :)) I had it checked by an AA garage and the BMW garage. Both said that there was nothing wrong :(

Then I took it to a specialist performance garage in Graves End (near the football ground) and described the problem. He said "Oh, yeah, it'll be a faulty sensor in the engine/gearbox that is in need of replacement" he explained that when it fails, the ECU does it as a saftely feature to stop damage to the gearbox and engine. He said that it would be a quick matter of replacing the sensor(s). Of course I didn't tell the garage that when I part ex'd it ;)
