Was Android Auto Support an optional extra or included on some models?

Featured Replies

Hi, I'm looking to get a 2016/17 MkIII Superb 2.0 TDI DSG, likely a reasonbly high spec Laurin & Klement or SE L Business/Executive. Some are listed with Android Auto/Apple Car play others seemly the same model are not, curious was it a optional extra or was in included on some models?

Also is there a website/resource with what each model/trim includes?

Thanks!

Bought my 2016 SEL Executive Last year, and it has Android Auto BUT wired NOT Wireless. Check what stereo they have. Mine has a Columbus but there is also Amudsen unit and Bolero unit aswell.

Spelling mistake

I think it was an option in 2016/17, only becoming standard on late 2017 builds

Did that coincide with the change from the 8 inch screen Columbus with physical buttons to the 9.2 inch Columbus with touch sensors only?

My March 2016 L&K has Android auto (wired onljy as mentioned above). No idea how well it works as I tried it out briefly then uninstalled the app soon after,

EDIT: that's the Columbus with physical buttons.

It's technically available on all MIB2 units, Inc with physical buttons. (So late 2015 build onwards?)

If it's not been optioned, the dealer will install it for you in return for 400 portraits of the queen

As above. All mib2 (and up) units are capable. MY16 (so late 2015) models is when mib2 was started. Would have been a year or two with needing to pay extra for it. Then they bundled it.

Basically if a car is 16+ and has a touch screen it should be able to do it. You may have to pay for it to be unlocked though.

Wireless android auto or carplay is only on the new mib3 units which are 2019 onwards and even then it was an upgrade.

spoiler: mib3 is definitely not an upgrade with all the bugs in it

My 2020 MIB3 does not do Wireless AA. Cable only unfortunately.

Early MIB3 models did wireless CarPlay only.

Wireless Android Auto came later.

I don't know why.....
