Skoda Fabia break pads

Featured Replies

Hi

can anyone advise on the difference between purchasing genuine ŠKODA break pads and discs vs brands for euro car parts such as Brembo, Pagid etc? Which pads are best?
Would I be spending a premium on what could essentially be the Skoda stamp on the break pads which are made by one of the manufactures like Brembo etc? Please advise

In my experience of 7 VAG cars over the past 20 something years, the OEM brake discs and pads are not of good quality.  I used to use EBC Spotties with their Greenstuff pads as a replacement but I've recently had a poor experience with them.

In the past few months, I've fitted drilled Brembo discs with Brembo HP pads to both my Yeti and my wife's Karoq.  We shall see how that works out but then I'm good at breaking brakes...

Do you need brake disks and pads on a 2020 Fabia?

My 2016 62k miles Fabia are half worn.

Thanks, AG Falco

Don't be fooled by former glory with brand 'names' sometimes the name is all that's really left with company takeovers and brand names bought.  Seek current reviews and advice.

Brembo I heard a few years back weren't the quality they once were.

EBC is a local family company whose products I've never bought, or used AFAIK.

Pagid is a brand of the TMD Friction Group who also have Mintex among others.  I fitted Pagid pads and discs to the front of my wife's Fabia and they seem a good product, braking feels good.

I've never owned drilled or grooved discs and never felt the need, but my cars were generally lighter than a Mk3 Fabia, I prefer good pads (shoes) and tyres.

If you are also doing the front my Topic might (or might not) be of use to you. -

Don't buy Eicher from EuroCarParts. IME they're not great, even my OEM (apparently) discs were better at 14 years old.
