Octavia Mk3 Estate with Canton - spare wheel possible?

Featured Replies

Hi,

This may have been asked before, but I couldn't see an easy way to search just this part of the forum rather than the entire site so apologies.

My car doesn't arrive until Sunday from Cinch, its an SE Technology (2018) so i've only got the pictures from the website to go off.  It has Canton (which I guess is good) but it doesn't have a spare wheel.  Now, my question is:

Is there a spare wheel well under the boot floor, and if so, can I just buy a spare wheel kit and lob it in?  The Canton seems to be in a box on the left hand side of the boot on the pictures, but I was just checking there is nothing under the boot floor as well which may stop me from doing this (does the well for a spare even exist?)

Many thanks,

Slick2097.

Short answer is yes you can. Hope you weren't expecting a mahoosive woofer in the boot labelled "Canton", actually the woofer is what sits in that little box on the side 😱

You probably have the emergency inflating kit, which to be fair saves weight compared to a spare wheel. You can buy a space-saver spare wheel kit from various outlets.

Yeah I got both the canton and the space saver tyre happily in the boot.

There's loads of spares kits knocking about. Should be able to get one fairly cheap

As others have already advised, the Canton subwoofer is a smallish box that takes up some space behind the nearside wheel arch, and I think precludes the fitment of the variable height floor (although I believe this is no great loss as they are not that strong.) The full normal wheel well is available. Mine's a 2019 Vrs, so I purchased the appropriate black foam wheel well  insert and jacking kit from a main dealer via their Ebay outlet (these vary according to original wheel fitment and ensure your boot floor/carpet is supported) and then a Golf Mk7.5 space saver spare from an online breakers, again via Ebay - this was in fact new and had never been fitted. All done for far less than the dealer complete option cost.
