instrument cluster replacement

Featured Replies

hi everyone I bought my 2009 superb a view months ago my lcd pannel and speedo have stopped working I was wondering can I swap it out plug and play or do I have to get one that matches it and code it.. second I have the controls on my steering wheel but I don't think there connected as I have to use the wiper stalk to switch into on lcd panel.. if I get upgraded clocks can I program the steering controls to the display

thanks

You'll need a decent autolocksmith to transfer the immobiliser and odometer over and pair the keys.

You'll probably also need to find the radio code as that's stored in the cluster too.

I'd stick to the same part number...

As for the steering controls, that sounds like something has been replaced with the wrong part. Hard to offer any detailed advice without understanding the full picture with part numbers and coding I'm afraid.

this is the problem I'm having. the back light is showing through each section and the lcd...I think someone has it apart as the speedo Dail moves up and down like a clock not going smooth like it should

Pretty sure vcds isn't going to help with immobiliser transfer on a 2009 car I'm afraid 😟

Going by the warning lights, perhaps you should get the engine and steering fixed first.

Apparently there are repair kits out there for the LCD panel, which would be much easier than a cluster swap.

the engine light is on because of qn overboost issue and all the other light are on because of an issue. but here is my point the steering light is not actually on its only showing ture because I've the head lights on and if you look closer the left indecator is glowing to aswel as the right side were the battery light ect ect should be light up white.. here is is in day time with no head light on

Power steering faults can be a first indication of a failing battery - it's a high current item, as are the headlights. Low voltage does strange things. Just a thought.

Clusters of this age also have a few issues which cause various LED's to either not work or be dimly lit when they shouldn't be...

If there are no fault codes for the power steering etc and the battery checks out, you could also consider sending the cluster to an electronics repair shop.

There are a few companies online who offer this service but I'm not sure if they cover Ireland :)

HI! I have same issue more or less... have you found someone able to fix that in Ireland? I'm at the 8th mechanic and searching for 5J0920 840B Skoda fabia 1.2 2008 😮‍💨 Does the model has to be exactly the same of the code?

what if all the lights are triggered because the previous owner changed it already and put not the correct one? 👻
