Diesel or petrol. I’ve used racingline/shark.
tvs engineering both very reliable and successfully all 3 vehicles have done over 100k no bother

Petrol tsi 35 thousand miles

Your car is a 2018 model. . .so I'm guessing a 245. . So probably has GPF fitted. . So might want to consider that too.

Only gpf specific software I have seen upto now is by racingline (oem+)

Weather it makes tons of difference, I don't know.  . But I'd avoid cheap off the shelf maps unless they are specifically for that engine/exhaust system.

Also worth thing about at tcu map if it's a dsg car. . Although I don't think they are specifically need until stage2

Revo racingline and tvs engineering all have opf/Gpf software..

my superb 4x4 has just made 360bhp and 530nm with Gpf. 0-120 under 15 s 👍🏻

My 2018 245 vRS doesn't have a GPF - I thought they came in on the MY19's but I'm not 100% sure.

Be careful of the clutch, based on various threads and the Golf GTI, it's not a particularly strong item and may need replacing shortly after the remap...

Mine's a 2017 230 without GPF. Had a Racingline one done on it in Nov, no engine mods bar a K&N panel, pikey modification to airbox, hose and a forge turbo elbow.

339 bhp after the map. Took 3 or 4 hrs to do at Awesome GTi, wasn't just a flash load.

Was on a similar mileage, clutch lasted 2 months and about 5k before I had it swapped out for a Helix as it started slipping under load.

I have an identical story to DC04R. Same car, same Racingline remap and the need for the same Helix clutch afterwards. The hardware mods I fitted afterwards.

I've done loads of research on when gpf came in on them, but just found loads of conflicting info.

I've seen at least one thread on here with someone with a 2018 245 confirming there's 100% had gpf fitted.

Mines a 68 plate and has gpf. . And is whisper quiet because of it 😔
