Puncture rant

Featured Replies

Just had to have the car recovered due to a split shoulder on my 4 week old PS4S! Ran over a stone, barely felt it then 2 mins later the tyre pressure warning comes on! No spare, although have recently been looking for one so had to call recovery. Now looking at £170 for a new tyre and not available until Tuesday. Just needed to vent! F****** cars!!!!

Shame with a nice Bank Holiday weekend in the offing! 😓

I know, happy Easter!

Mate, I feel your pain.

My Tyre Pressure Warning has been coming on for the rear drivers side tyre too, I keep topping it up, but will have to get it replaced next week too.

Is changing one ok, or should both be done at the same time? I know that is advised on smaller cars, but not sure for the Octy's.

These tyres don't come cheap! (mine are 225/35/19)

In my situation I’m happy replacing a single tyre as they’re only a few hundred miles old. Normally I like to replace in axle pairs though.

Of my last 3 cars none came with a full size spare.

The 1.4TSI Octavia estate came with a steel space saver.

The RS4 came with gunk (but I got a space saver spare which had to live in the boot as the 'spare wheel well' was full of battery - no room under the bonnet).

The Aygo came with a space saver which soon got replaced with a full size steel spare.

I feel your pain mate. Recently had a screw in my PS4S too which luckily was repairable & then a week later the same happens again on the same tyre! 🤬

The worst part of the system is that it might tell you that you have a slow puncture but won't tell you anything at all if another tyre suddenly deflates at the same time. Had that last year with my previous car, I'd kept resetting the system to clear the tyre pressure warning but then it came on again one morning and that afternoon a different tyre ran flat!

Hardly the fault of the system but that of the owner that kept resetting it and not attending to the slow puncture.

And before you say anything I would be just as tardy, perhaps less now that I have got my manual tyre changing rig in the same country as myself, I would not blame the system and I dont even rely on it (I check tyres visually each day and pressures weekly) other than to tell me if I have a tyre significantly deflating while I am driving.
