PLEASE HELP ME, IM NOT MADE OF MONEY

I bought a key from what I believe to be the same source (Poland - via e-bay). Once you have the key cut, you need to get the key coded to the immobliser. My local dealer did it for me for 1/2 hour of their normal labour rate, which was about £35.

I was surprised that the engine started before I had mine coded, but as with you I had the little key symbol showing.

Still cheaper than sourcing a key from Skoda.

yup you need a vag com or a nice local dealer

*edit*

can you program the fob to work with 3 buttons?

i have the buttons working on the 3 button key minus the boot one which my car dont have, i might be acting stupid here but what is a vag com ?????

whats the red key that comes with the cra too ?????

I don't know anything about a red key (Except Fiats) and what is a cra?

VAG-COM is software that will carry out many of the functions of the dealer computer.

You have to use it program your car's immobiliser to accept your new keys.

The remote and the immobiliser are two entitrely different things. You have new remotes which you have programmed, now the actual key itself needs programming to enable it to let the car run. For this you need access to a diagnostic machine (VAG com software loaded into a PC (Home and non franchised dealers) and a cable or what the dealers use VAS5051, or VAG1552).

You will also need the immobiliser PIN (Supplied when the car was new on the plastic tag with the spare key), if you haven't got this then a dealer can get it for you - they will need your immobiliser serial number which they can read from your car with the aforementioned diagnostic equipment, or it is on the plastic tag. Once you have these then the keys can be enabled for the immobiliser using the previously aforementioned diagnostic equipment.

Or you could try and swap the transponder from the old to the new key.

Were these keys bought through a Skoda dealer? The thread title could lead readers to think that Skoda-supplied keys are to blame for your problems.

Hi all been a while since my last post. In the throws of moving house (stress!!)

I too had a similar problem with my spare key fob.

I had given my neighbour the spare key so he could drive the car to have its first MOT the very next morning. However I could hear that the car was starting and immediately stalling. On inspection I could see that the key symbol was flashing? Tried the usual key and the car started ok.

Turns out that a few weeks earlier I had a replacement instrument panel fitted (thankfully under warrenty then). However they only coded the main key that I had given them (after all they didn't ask me for the spare)

Once they had the spare they were able to code this to the immobiliser.

Apart from the continuing problem with my drivers door lock, everything is fine now.

Hope this helps back up was has already been posted.

Anyone know how much a replacement keyfob is from SKODA?

CIVI

Depends what type of key you want.

But a complete flip key inc programming from a dealer is around £120.
