Edition 1.5 tsi DSG 4x4

Featured Replies

Hello

I'm looking to join the Karoq club and hoping to tap your collective wisdom and experience.  I'm looking at a 2019 1.5 tsi Edition 4x4.  It looks a lovely car and has all the extras I'd like.  My main concern is the economy penalty over the FWD 1.5 tsi DSG.  I don't particularly need AWD, but there isn't a used FWD Edition or SE L with the extras I'd like (the virtual cockpit seems quite rare) - or at least not for a comparable price.

I can't seem to find any reliable information on WLTP / real word MPG figures for the 1.5 4x4.  Honest John's Real MPG gives the 4x4 a better MPG than the FWD (see screenshot), which can't be right?

Does anyone here have any insight on this?  I know driving style, conditions, etc. affect MPG but I'm looking for WLTP / other reliable(ish) real word averages just so that I can guesstimate the excess petrol cost of going with the 4x4, and whether that's worth it over dropping the virtual cockpit for a more economical FWD.

Any other thoughts on the Edition gladly welcomed too!

Thanks

Welcome.

Others might help on the fuel economy.

Be aware that the Haldex AWD system needs serviced each 30,000 / 3 years or sooner.

The DSG will be at 80,000 miles not @ 40,000 what wet clutch DSG's usually require, but check that.

The FWD 1.5 TSI with a DQ200 DSG requires no Haldex or DSG Servicing.

Thanks roottoot - Skoda are currently offering 2 years warranty and servicing if you buy used on finance, so I expect that will cover the AWD service too.  I'll ask the dealer to confirm.

@newowner441

How many miles on the car you are looking at?

Check if it required software updates because of the Kangerooing issue some had.  That is regardless of being a FWD or AWD one.

What Servicing has it had so far and before delivery used, or any warranty work?

Ask them to confirm in writing on the 2 Services because i suspect it will not include the Haldex or the Brake Fluid change or other stuff over and about 1 Oil & Filter Inspection Service and 1 Oil & Inspection Service with Extended Scope.

So in writing what it include cover over and above these Services on a Fixed Service Regime.

As well as the Pollen Filter, is it Spark Plugs, Air Filter by mileage covered at these 2 services?

That's my car's twin.
According to the onboard computer, I'm getting about 37 mpg, with 80% extra-urban drive, but hilly country.

Thanks - this is all great stuff.  I'll get into it with the dealer.

The car has about 20k miles on it over three years.

That's better than I'd expected - you must be an efficient driver!

The little extra weight of the Haldex and Wet Clutch DSG should not make much difference.

Putting people and stuff in a car or the difference in the weight of drivers can be having more affect on fuel consumption.

Then there are differences on Wheels / Tyres, size / width.

PS

Check the tyres on the car you are looking at and if you need to fit All Weather tyres check the cost of the size needed for the wheel size.

I have the 4x4 DSG 2ltr Diesel and get 45mpg over the year, winter and local I would be lucky to get 40.

I would take a big pinch of salt with the official and around 40 mpg for the 1500 petrol.

This might help with Real World if Real World is what Briskoda members post they get with a 1.5 TSI

Not all DSG's or AWD's.

There are lots of Karoq 1.5TSI DSG MPG threads just on Briskoda.

Thank you - I had a look at this but couldn't see much / anything on the petrol 1.5 4x4, which is why I started the thread.

In relation to the two years' servicing, all the dealer could say is that it would cover the cost of the next two services to whatever standard they were required at the time, and that Skoda don't give them a leaflet or any further detail.  Sounds like it's the basic Oil & Filter inspection plus another one with extended scope.  The offer on the website just refers to one minor and one major service without describing these:

The other car I'm looking at is a Volvo, so I don't expect their servicing costs will be cheaper anyway.

On the plus side, it looks like it already has all weather tyres.

Not many of them about so if a good one then best not hesitate.   If the dealership can not give the 2 service deal T&C,s that is because they are not trying.

The threads are on here from others that had to force the point with Skoda UK.  The terms exist.

(They must know stuff as salespeople or they might by accident mis-sell stuff, stuff that are financial agreements & that can bite them in the bum.)

If its the one i think it is, looks very nice, has some useful extras and should ride nicely as it has 17" alloys despite the advert saying 19"! Cant offer much other advice as mine is not 4x4, but does have virtual cockpit!
