fabia exhaust or intercooler ?

Featured Replies

i have the amd 1 click and was thinking about maybe getting a blueflame exhaust.

but ...... would i benefit more from the exhaust or the intercooler ?

or would it be a bit stupid to upgrade intercooler but keep the standard exhaust system

what i want is a bit more power, no more smoke and not to much added to insurance.

thanks

richard

Exhaust first for sure.

I would say fmic cause you wont get much benefit from the exhaust except the sound or am i wrong? Specially now for the hot days i think that fmic is a must for a hard remapped cars.

Nothing like a complete difference of opinion!!

fight fight fight

I would say a FMIC would be good if you were in a constantly hot climate, but here in Britain I don't think the benefit would be as great.

IMO, get the exhaust done and do the intercooler vent pikey mod instead. :)

There are a few people interested in the Blueflame exhaust at the moment, including me, so maybe a group buy could be sorted if there are enough people...

Go for the exhaust :D

Blueflame exhaust. FMIC is not necessary in this country. I did 600 track miles in warm weather with no intercooler, but having done pikey mods 1 and 2, I NEVER EVER got heat soak. So, my view, unless you are going to whack a huge turbo on, save your cash, and get the exhaust. Then ask someone nicely who has vag-com to turn your egr valve down, and fit a filter element such as a green cotton, or k+n.

Why did you do 600 track miles with no intercooler?

:P :D

I'm booked in for a Flame turbo back exhaust next friday ;)

right, thanks for all your responses :)

i went to demon tweaks today and asked about exhausts.

they said milltek would be:

£386 inc VAT for cat back or

£761 inc VAT for turbo back with sports cat

how much is the blueflame turbo back ? and is there any performance difference with the two ?

those prices include labour btw :)

bit of a price difference .......

does anyone know if the milltek is worth the extra ?

its handy for fitting as it is local but the price difference is rather big

How about 30 to 90 in less than 20 seconds?

Yep thats how long it takes for the intake temps to rise in the summer. Not much better in the winter. I know which one I'd have. ;)

I reckon the noise from the Blueflame is much nicer  No way am I paying

Yikes, prices have risen since i got my blueflame exhaust! i paid

martin pick - does the exhaust make a lot of difference to feeling/performance/noise of the car ?

especially the turbo back ....

Yikes, prices have risen

Too right, my Milltek and sports cat was free ;)

Have you tried emailing blueflame and asking for an exhaust at the old GB price? That's what I did, and got it :D

I've got the Miltek but as you say that is a very big price difference. At that price you could get the Blueflame and be well on the way to buying an fmic if you wanted one too.

I've never regretted getting my Miltek though, it still brings a smile to my face evertime I start it up, albeit inside my garage where the noise is rather amplified. :D

I got the Forge FMIC and I never get heatsoak. I used to get heatsoak with the standard car in the warmer days of the year - temp around 30 degrees C outside - when booting it through the gears. By the time you hit 3rd it started backing off already.

I've not tried the arch-venting on mine but I'm convinced it will make a big difference as when the FMIC was fitted to mine you could tell hot air couldnt escape at all from the standard SMIC. With the venting it will be a LOT better, won't void warranty and probably be enough.

I went for the FMIC as I wanted the extra capacity (cooling wise), I was fortunate enough to get on the GB, and I wanted a hybrid turbo at least. Must admit if you don't go for a bigger/hybrid turbo I'd go for the arch venting way, as the bigger FMIC has more volume to fill so it will stress the turbo for longer periods to get the boost up.

That said it sounded good even when standard :D

Intercooler first, then exhaust - although i did it the other way round :D
