Sokda Fabia 1.6 TDi Monte Carlo

Featured Replies

Due to mu curren car having issues, I might need to buy a new car (new being second hand). I've had Fabia's and Octavias before with no problems, but has any had experience of a 1.6 TDi Fabia Monte Carlo?

Anything to look out for? Mechanical questions to ask etc (i.e Time belt/chain). I've found a 2012 84,000 mile version for £4998

Thanks :D

I've had mine for about 2 and a half years and it's been great to me, 1.6 tdi is a reliable lump largely. However:

-Make sure you know whether or not it's been affected by dieselgate, more than likely it was "fixed" by now, mine was.  Fixed cars are meant to have more trouble with injector problems and egr/dpf shenanigans, the fix also blunted performance and MPG figures somewhat. Emissions and injectors are not cheap to sort.

Saying that, I've never had any trouble relating to the diesel gate fix on my car and any problems from it would have been sorted by now, but it's still worth mentioning.

-These cars use a timing belt and off the top of my head it's every 5 years it needs done. Check the service book or ask for invoices to prove its done

-On the same topic make sure its been serviced regularly, mine had its oil done every 10k miles and continues to have it done every 10k.

-TYRES, my car chews front tyres on the inside, seemingly a lot of these do. Just be aware of it when you're looking at the car.

Looking at the price and the miles I'm guessing it's in pretty good shape. I'd check the MOT history of it and see what it says. For reference I payed £3400 for mine start of 2020, 89k miles on it

Do you mind posting up the advert?

Sorry it seems quite a long post,  hopefully it'll give be of some use to you. These cars are quite solid and aside from injectors and dpf/egr stuff, very cheap to sort if something goes wrong.

Given the number of cars that appear to be on the market with "hidden" damage history, some major - see Dodgy Cars on FB who even have a "Golf Sunday feature" where every single week a Golf is featured being sold with undisclosed history - I would recommend paying for a history check with someone like VCheck or Car Vertical which for sub £10 may find any history where a car has been through an accident damage auction. An HPI check, which the dealers generally rely, on will not always give this information, while the VCheck and Car Vertical even show pictures of damage if applicable from auctions, and these damaged cars are appearing even on main dealer and large group forecourts.

(4) Facebook  If you click on the "see more" you will see the salvage photos in Source Link as a typical.
