Hi I've found a superb estate that I'm about to buy but while checking insurance when I type in car reg it's showing up as automatic when in fact it's a manual. Just wondering what could be going on🤔

Cars can be wrongly registered, & V5's can be wrong, an this can be the DVLA's fault, dealers / manufacturers.

The build sticker in the boot will have the gearbox code on it.

Best get a VIN and a check to see if it was built as a manual or an Auto / DSG.

Also Check the Co2 g k/m of the manual model and the auto.

?

Have you seen the car?    Best be sure it is sorted for when insuring the car.

Going to check it out this evening. Thanks

It's definitely a manual, I'll have a look in the boot.

Could it have been converted from automatic,? I'd have thought that highly unlikely

Years back i bought  2 Ford Scorpio's as used cars with full spec that were Senior Police Officers cars and they had been manuals converted to automatics.

They also had engines tweaked.

This car has only had one owner from new,I had a friend do a check on it and it all seems genuine apart from being registered as automatic😥

Remember, 1 Registered Keeper.

As long as not Mrs Hertz or Mr Eurocar.

If your spidey-sense is tingling, a history check might help. I know they seem expensive, but they do come up with some useful info. https://www.carvertical.com/gb

Other checking sites are available, some are probably cheaper.

(Incidentally, there's a 10% discount available if you use the discount code HIGHPEAK. There's a direct discount link in the description of this video. Clicking it probably gives him something, but the code worked when I last tried it.)

Thanks, I wouldn't say my spidey senses are tingling but I just found it strange.

Hi,

We're happy to quote on this vehicle, despite the mismatch. If you mention the discrepancy when you call us, we will be able to quote for a manual vehicle and override the gearbox as shown on the DVLA reg. look up so that your policy is correct.

Hope that helps.

The transmission code in the service book is manual I got the mechanic to check and on some provinces site it's coming up correctly🤔
