Good morning 

 

I have just purchased a very tidy 2006 Octavia Estate 2.0 diesel auto. 

 

Runs and drives v nicely but a couple of times on turning the key in the ignition although the dash lights illuminate it doesn't crank over. On trying again it works?! 

 

Any ideas what this could be? Whilst it's not the most serious issue I don't want it getting any worse!

As it's an auto, it could be the starter inhibit relay 

Thank you. Is that a big job to sort out? What testing would I need to diagnose?

 

It's relay D2 in the above picture under the dash drivers side, I would pull it out and just make sure the contacts are clean, if it persists probably replace the relay
