1.4 petrol 2017 octavia service

Featured Replies

Hello,

I am looking to service my 1.4 petrol 2017 Skoda octavia. I just wondered where people order their service kits from? Any recommendations?

Thank you,

Rich

I usually buy stuff from Autodoc via Mobile app because it has better discount than the web platform. I added my car profile inside the app and now I just leave filters and other parts in the "basket" until the discount reaches 30-35%. The highest is 40% but rarely happens.

For the oil, it depends on where are you located. I purchase it from Germany, from Auto24.de, but if you are located in UK, there could be better local places like OpieOil or even Halfords. I've seen good Millers oil sample reports, but never used it because it's hard to find outside UK.

@HebbleWelcome.

What country are you in?

Maybe a local motor factor.

How much servicing are you doing?

Brake Fluid,

Oil & Filter,

Sump Plug / Washer or maybe not.

Air Filter.

Pollen / Cabin Filter.

Spark Plugs.

I’m in the UK. I was thinking about a full service including spark plugs. Although I’ve heard they can be tricky to remove on the VAG engines.

I’d rather not do the brake fluid but I have got a bleeding kit out necessary.

do you all use genuine Skoda parts?

Thank you,

Rich

Also what viscosity oil is the 1.4?

You want to use a Tool to remove the coils.

I would not worry about parts with VW/Audi like on the spark plugs, because VW / Audi do not make spark plugs, (they have them made with their logo on them.)

so that will be NGK or what ever.

Cross reference and get the correct plugs.

You can get a VW / Audi Oil filter or a Mahle or whatever.  Same with Pollen & Air filters.

VW do not produce oil and might recommend Castrol, Quantum/ Fuchs or what ever, but just get the right spec.

VW504  00 / 507 00 which is Long life for Fixed or variable service intevals, so 0w 30 FS III or 5w 30 FS III,

or even VW502 00 for fixed servicing, so 5w 40 FS.

PS

The brake fluid change as recommended by the VW Group is at 3 years and then each 2 years.

If no record of a brake fluid change then you can get a tester to check for the h2o content.  Or maybe best have it changed.

Skoda published this as a guide.

That does not mean it is accurate or all cars with a FMDSH have been serviced thisway.
