Mk3 stereo replacement (swing plus fitted already)

Featured Replies

You can probably tell from the title that I’m a bit new to this stuff. I have read lots of posts about replacing the stereo in a Mk3 Fabia, but they have left me very confused. Could someone if possible give some answers to the following:

1. If you have the correct harness adapter (and fascia adapter if needed) can you install any “head unit” and expect it to work? I have read that the car will need reprogramming for it to work.

2. Would a replacement unit also give access to driving data or can I wave goodbye to that?

Thanks muchly….I may have follow up questions as well though!

1. OEM units are covered with components protection technology, then need to be matched with the car by Skoda dealer or someone having so called ODIS ONLINE account for Skoda. Pls note to enable new features, not supported originally, e.g. SmartLink, new unit must be hacked.

2. OEM units - yes, for aftermarket units you hae to check with supplier.
