Vrs Rear bumper help!

Featured Replies

Hi All. My Fab Vrs rear bumper has an unsightly gap between the upper and lower sections of the rear bumper. I looks like the lower section clips into the top section half way up the bumper but mine doesn't seem to want to fit far enough upwards to clip into the top section, hence the gap. Does anyone know how these sections fit together, can they be adjusted or are they bonded together? I need to try and find an answer as it's been like this for some time and I'd like to get it sorted. Any advice appreciated. IMG_20220607_152029.thumb.jpg.f6b948bb85898e4adced789f5da044d0.jpg

Just remove the entire bumper and the answer will present itself.

And it's litterly 10 mins to take the bumper off 😀

Great. Thanks guys I will do this. I wasn't sure if the lower part was just an external spoiler..

The lower part fits over a standard rear bumper. They are bonded together. If the car's had a minor rear bump and gone through the insurance, some repair shop has probably messed up the bonding or failed to clear off all of the release agent on any new parts.

Particularly, around the rear arches, it's worthwhile making sure the gap is closed. Otherwise gritty, muddy crud gets in there, keeps the gaps open and look bloody awful.

Thanks Vindaloo, this is exactly what's happened. I removed the bumper and separated the two halves. I painstakingly removed all the bonding and refitted the two halves together but it will still not fit properly. (Lugs won't fit into the locations as the the lower section is too low/tight) Not sure what the answer is apart from a new bumper? Both section have Skoda VW part numbers so look genuine. 🤔

Answer is probably "take it off the car and bond the two together on a bench.... Use a f*ck ton of clamps." . Unless you can figure a way to support the back of the inner bumper whilst applying pressure to the VRS bit from the outside.
