Rear offside electric window problem.

Featured Replies

Hi all, long time no post. My lad got into his grandads car today, an Octavia Turbo, pre vRS. He lowered the electric window and as it got to the bottom it went CLUNK and dropped down in to the door. His Grandad took it to a friend who was a mechanic. He took the door apart and showed him that a small plastic bracket had broken and needed replacing, but it couldnt be bought on its own, only as part of the whole assembly at

dunno about buying the part... but what about looking in a scrappy??

Apparently when you try and get it off another car you almost have to snap it off, would be better from new to honest!

Thanks anyway

The plastic part is part of the window regulator. A new regulator is in the region of £45 + VAT, then of course there is the labour for fitting it. Even at £50 per hour it can't come to £140. The other alternative is to cable tiie the window to the door to keep it closed and not to use it - still takes labour but you save on the part and the car is secure, though the window won't go up or down.

The same happened on my old pug 306. The answer was to fabricate a replacement part from a bit of metal.... I have not seen the Octy one, so I am not sure if that is possible though....
